Black people can't solve racism alone; it requires buy-in from white people which doesn't seem to be forthcoming. This is why I'm starting to believe racism for all practical purposes is permanent. The only thing Black people can do is separate and try and ameliorate its effects.

You know the irony of this is that this very statement was the topic of my Imperial Feminism lecture today at the University of Edinburgh.

Yup. Jim Crow was an EXPLICITLY anti-Black American caste system. In Booker T Washington's autobiography, he mentions visiting a town somewhere and the local Whites were getting ready to lynch some nigga until they found out he was a Moroccan who just happened to know English
This is ahistorical. They would deny Black Americans who looked like Ben Shelton into white establishments in Jim Crow but would allow Dark skin Caribbean, African & Latin Americans into them because they weren’t of the American Negro ethnicity.

King in the Wilderness was a very sobering documentary. There was not a unified goal of the CRM. A lot of people in, adjacent and surrounding the movement was fighting for assimilation. MLK’s own group abandoned him for getting more radical.
Condoleeza rice. Her best friend was one of the four little girls killed in the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham September 15, 1963. She was supposed to be a Black radical- she was supposed to use her brilliance for the betterment of Black people.

Remembering the Fifth Little Girl Sarah Collins Rudolph, a 12-year-old little girl, was the sole survivor of the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing, which rocked Birmingham and the nation on September 15, 1963. The explosion, executed by four Ku Klux Klan members, killed Sarah's 14-year-old sister, Addie Mae Collins, as well as 11-year-old Denise McNair, 14-year-old Carole Robertson, and 14-year-old Cynthia Wesley. Sarah was hospitalized for months and missed her sister's funeral. She was left with major shrapnel wounds and lost the vision in her right eye. #16thStreetBaptistChurch #TheKingCenter #BelovedCommunity #Nonviolence365 #RememberTheirNames

Luol Deng says the Lakers gave him a 4-year $72,000,000 contract, then refused to let him play after one game in his second season to prioritize younger players “I wanted to stay in Miami, but Pat Riley kept it real. Pat just said, ‘I can’t pay you that much money. You gotta take that money.’ I looked at it like, ‘You know what, I might never ever get this opportunity again.’ But my conversation about going to L.A. was to go there to hoop. I had a mindset of now I’m getting paid. I wanted to make it happen, so I took the chance and I took the money. But what the plan was, was not what I was told” “That kind of changed how I looked at the league, my love for the game and so on. I really mean it. I was getting all this money, but it didn’t feel right. It didn’t feel the same. What I mean by that is I wanted to play. I wanted to be a part of the team. I wanted a chance, but I was told, ‘We’re going in a different direction. I’m not dressing up and whatnot’” “I always tell people there were a lot of conversations where one month into it, it was like, ‘We’re only gonna play the young guys.’ A month into it, it was like, ‘We need you to get in shape, practice and so on.’ I would get in shape and practice, and then it would be a sit down like, ‘Oh, actually, we decided we’re gonna play the young guys.’ It just kept going” “Two years in, the second year, I was like, ‘I never want to play here.’ I remember it was just like, ‘You’re gonna play. You’re not gonna play. You’re gonna play.’ My agent was trying, but you gave me so much money and now you’re not playing me. Why would anyone else take that contract. You got to let me play for people to see, but I was never allowed to play”

Your reminder @macklemore is the only artist who announced to boycott the UAE over committing genocide in Sudan He cancelled his Dubai show in solidarity with Sudan and made it clear that he would not perform in the UAE while it continues to arm and fund the RSF. So yes, artists can choose principles over a paycheck. It is absolutely possible. “Habibi Boycott Dubai and The UAE” #KeepEyesOnSudan

This film showed me that all the things we think are inherently leftists like student protests, women’s organizing, workers strikes, work stoppage can be used by fascists against socialists. The three part series did an incredible job showing how each was deployed against a socialist government until they finally violently overthrew Allende and murdered, tortured, imprisoned socialists. MUST watch. Rest in Power Patricio
RIP to Patricio Guzman 🇨🇱 — His Battle of Chile trilogy, which chronicles the long coup against Salvador Allende, is one of the best works of political cinema in history. youtube.com/watch?v=JcnyCOPh…

Rakheem Brown spent 8 days in a "shit" room without a toilet, running water and only a bucket to poop in at NY's Green Haven Correctional Facility. Locked in there under the accusation that he was hiding contraband in his rectum, he was ordered to stay and poop it out into the bucket. Over one week in a feces-covered room, wearing a feces-smeared gown only and no water and no contraband appeared in the bucket. solitarywatch.org/2026/09/14…

BMS argues we can understand populations described by sex and imposed upon by specific social forces. This is why BMS has resisted falsification. The history and data driving the explanatory framework of BMS is superior to the short stories & poems of feminist theory.

Unlike speculative metaphysics, that assert Blackness is the slave, or eviscerated, etc., BMS offers an interpretive schema that makes sense of historically repetitive & observable social phenomena. Unlike feminist theory & intersectionality that depends of essentialism,
