Memento Survive

SURVIVE, the 5th curation at Domínio PúbliCC0 6529, is LIVE✨ To survive is a verb Brazil knows well. We've learned to make it through hyperinflation, currency changes, crises that arrive without warning, and fresh starts no one ever promised. We know that hard times are not the end of the story, but a part of it. 42 Survive themed meme cards, from seasons 2 all through 16, make up the exhibition. Tightropes and lions. Deserts, sharks, winters that would not end. Charts that swung like Fragonard's girl, and moons that never came. Sunflowers in the lava. Bodies rising over the crowd. The ever looming Bear. The artists who kept minting into the silence, and the collectors who kept hodling when holding was all there was. Hung together, they stop being single images and become a record. Proof of work, in the oldest sense. Storms feed the roots. The wise store. The rest of us just keep walking, one step at a time. What in us resists when the cycle turns? Only survivors win. To celebrate and record on the world computer another IRL exhibition built entirely from CC0 works of The Memes, we have released a Meme Card submission, which is also part of Casa NUA's ongoing fundraiser for operating our public gallery, serving thousands of monthly visitors while giving them their first contact with networked art. The card’s soundtrack, just like for our prior Pebbles and Keys & Gates exhibition meme cards, was composed by @pandelic for the upcoming “6529, from Cloud to Land” Vinyl Record (stay tuned… it's getting ready!) On the screens at Domínio PúbliCC0 — Morning Glory by @zoku_nft San Roque Dam, Córdoba, Argentina, 2026 Every other threshold in this exhibition needs somebody to decide. This one doesn't. What you are looking at is a bellmouth spillway — a concrete funnel standing in the reservoir with its rim set just above a chosen water level. When the lake rises past that rim, the lake pours in. Nobody opens it. No gate, no operator, no roster, no authorisation, no shift. The mouth is about five metres across; the water drops some twenty metres, runs a curve, crosses a horizontal tunnel through the dam, and comes out the far side into the river. The rule is the shape. The policy is the geometry. That is the part worth sitting with. A gate can be lobbied. A guard can be bribed, or tired, or absent, or told to make an exception for the right person. This has no office hours and no discretion, and it cannot be captured, because there is nothing to capture. It admits exactly what exceeds the line, and nothing else, indefinitely. It was built in 1944 with the new dam, replacing a system that depended on someone deciding when to open the floodgates. Eighty-two years later it is still enforcing the same rule, and has never needed an update. Engineers call this shape a morning glory, after the flower. The photograph finds the flower: a dark bloom opening on a still lake, its petals combed to silk by a sixth of a second. Permissionless design is not something the internet invented. Currently at Domínio PúbliCC0 — Sina Beizavi in Brazil by @HugoFaz Casa NUA, São Paulo, 5 July 2026 He is holding the passport the way you hold something you are finally allowed to put down. Not throwing it. Not framing it. Letting it hang between two fingers, tipped toward the marble, ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN facing the floor of a house in São Paulo. Seven months earlier, Sina Beizavinejad left Iran, where his sexuality, his art and his renunciation of Islam had made ordinary life a matter of daily calculation. US sanctions on Iranian citizens narrowed the exits further, closing even the web3 rails that might have let him work and be paid from where he was — a gate drawn at the level of nationality rather than conduct, which is the kind that no individual behaviour can open. He got out through Casa NUA and the 6529 network. So the exhibition's entire vocabulary sits in one frame: a document, a border, a sanction, an exit — and then the thing all of it stood in the way of. A Sunday afternoon. Look at what he is wearing. Nothing, except green-and-yellow Havaianas, a welcome gift. The old country is in his hand. The new one is on his feet. Then look at the pose. This is the reclining nude of European painting — the odalisque, draped across gilt furniture, lit from one side — a form invented to display bodies that had no say in being displayed. Here the body belongs to a queer Iranian man in Brazil, and he chose the chair, the light, and the flip-flops. He is not being shown. He is showing.
