“You need to learn how to speak proper English.” I hear that one ALL the time.
But good communication isn’t about sounding the same in every room. It’s about knowing how to communicate in the room you’re in.
I’m Southern. I have an accent. We have slang. I talk differently with my homies than I do in a boardroom, and I’m more relaxed with my students than I am during a national interview. Yeah it’s AXE and not ASK sometimes.
That doesn’t mean I don’t know the difference. Knowing the difference is the skill.
My boys aren’t in English class every time I open my mouth. Sometimes I’m simply talking to them in a way that feels natural, familiar, and connects.
Don’t confuse somebody CHOOSING how to speak with somebody not KNOWING how to speak.

Some athletes go through things that most fans couldn’t even imagine..so I get Brandon Aiyuk’s frustrations regarding his situation with the 49ers. With that being said, he’s going to highly regret going about his situation the way he has been. I pray he gets whatever he’s going through figured out. 🙏🏿
