1.) The US is a net _exporter_ of diesel. It doesn't need Russian diesel. 2.) Russia and the US are competitors on global diesel markets. The "deal" could be bad for US exporters, but: 3.) Diesel prices are higher now than before Trump's "deal." (you can't fool the markets)

My 3 cents on Social Security: 1. The fiscal cliff is coming. We're going to have to do something--either raises taxes or cut benefits. 2. Whatever we do, let's not leave people in the lurch who depended on the government's promises and are now too old for a plan B. 3. The whole mess illustrates why we can't depend on the government's promises. Privatize whenever possible.

It’s always crazy to me how a .45 cent per gallon gas increase can cost a political party control of Congress, but an additional $1500 dollars in public school property taxes isn’t enough to get people to question their school boards.

🚨 JUST IN: The US Senate has ADVANCED the Trump-backed Protect College Sports Bill, 74-24 The legislation would limit free transfers for student athletes, seek to prevent bankruptcy of programs, and end the chaos of varying name, image and likeness laws It goes to the HOUSE after the Senate fully passes it

Baylor football is wearing a six-year-old's artwork on their helmets today. Her name is ILaria Ramirez. She is from Cameron, Texas. She is a patient at Baylor Scott & White McLane Children's Medical Center. Here is how it happened. Baylor players went over to the children's hospital and sat down with the pediatric patients. Not a photo op, not a walk through and wave. They actually sat down at tables with the kids and drew together. Blank Baylor Bear heads. Markers. Make it yours. ILaria made hers pink and teal. She put a bear right in the middle of it. And then she did two things that nobody told her to do. She gave it a name. She called it the Helmet of Hope. And she picked three words to go around the edge of it. FAITH. VICTORY. STRENGTH. A six-year-old chose those. Not a marketing department. Not a coach. Not her parents. Her. Baylor took her drawing, turned it into a decal, and put it on every single helmet for today's Gold Rush game against Louisiana Tech. Not a sticker on one guy's helmet. Not a patch on the sleeve. Every player on the field wearing a first grader's bear on the side of their head. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and gold is the color for it worldwide. Baylor asked the entire stadium to wear gold today. Head coach Dave Aranda on why: "ILaria is one of us, and so we represent her and want her and her family to know that we're fighting along with her." And linebacker Kyler Jordan, on what today actually is: "Way bigger than football." Here is the number that sits underneath all of this. Nearly 1 in 285 Americans will be diagnosed with cancer before they turn 20. One in 285. Before 20 years old. Which means in a stadium that holds 45,000 people, the math says a few hundred of them have already been through some version of what ILaria is going through right now. That is why the gold matters. That is why a helmet decal matters. Somewhere in that building today there is a kid who knows exactly what a hospital room looks like, watching a Division I football team run out of the tunnel wearing a drawing made by a girl who is six. FAITH. VICTORY. STRENGTH. She picked those words herself.

Everybody knows everything about this Protect College Sports Act including people who don’t know anything. The top 1% of college basketball and football have hit the lottery. Only people being exploited right now are the rest of the 200K D-1 athletes in non-revenue and Olympic sports. This is definitely not a perfect bill but it’s a start. Pass it and make changes as we go. One exploited athlete last year made $1 million at a high-major program and averaged under 4 points a game. Honestly, he was exploited all the way to the local jewelry shop.

Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, on Mark Carney’s “middle powers” strategy and Europe’s economic decline🇺🇸🇨🇦🇪🇺 “When Mark Carney said, ‘The middle powers should get together’ … it’s a fantasy. They did that, it’s called Europe. The GDP of Europe has gone from 90% of America to 70%. And in our view, it will probably continue to erode over time because of high taxes and poor policy.”

Bo French’s rhetoric is racist, divisive, immature, and beneath the level of leadership Texans deserve. I am brown. I am a Republican. I am a sixth-generation Texan, and I have served MY nation since I was 19 years old. There are countless Texans like me who love our state, love our country, and refuse to let anyone question our patriotism or belonging because of the color of our skin. So instead of attacking and demeaning fellow Texans, I’d like to know: What has Bo French actually accomplished for the people of Texas? What has he contributed beyond inflammatory rhetoric and division? Texas is better than this. Conservatism is better than this. And Texans deserve better than this.
This is the Republican nominee for statewide office. Are other Republican elected officials going to condemn the intolerance and racism, or look the other way while it becomes normalized. This is how great political parties self-destruct. Sad.

There's just something broken about people who see a good time at a football game and turn it immediately to race. The Left pioneered it. Now people on the Right are doing it. It's bad on both sides.
I heard UT graduation this year looked like this. I didn’t believe it. The problem is now obviously far worse than anyone imagined.

My nephew Michael Hines was born with cerebral palsy. He came into this world with every strike against him, and yet he never had an unhappy day. He was a luminous soul, sent by God to teach us all how to live in gratitude and love. He died a week before his 21st birthday in May 2024. His organs went to nine recipients and saved two lives, including the mother of an intellectually disabled child. His heart went to a nine-year-old boy. After a lifetime of giving the gift of love, he died giving the gift of life. Orlando. April 2024.
