We did not apply for a ballot or deposit a ballot or attempt to vote.
We showed an elections official saying “you are the ID” and confirming one could vouch for eight others who were not there.
If that’s a crime, anyone who speaks with a polling official and asks questions is also committing a crime. Journalism is not a crime.
Minnesota law clearly states that no individual shall intentionally misrepresent the individual’s identity in applying for a ballot, depositing a ballot in a ballot box or attempting to vote by means of a voting machine or electronic voting system.

Eu sou, antes de tudo, um democrata.
Acredito que nem a direita nem a esquerda detêm o monopólio da verdade e que deve haver espaço para ambos os lados, desde que defendam valores democráticos.
Entretanto, vejo uma esquerda antidemocrática crescendo a passos largos.
Hoje vi pessoas debochando da fuga do Flávio Bolsonaro. Não veem nada de estranho em uma ordem de apreensão de seus passaportes ser emitida 7 minutos após a declaração do resultado da eleição.
Acham que está tudo certo, desde que seja contra seus opositores políticos. Não há nada mais antidemocrático do que isso.
Tenho certeza de que a maioria das pessoas de esquerda que votaram no Lula tem bons princípios democráticos. E estes deveriam estar a repugnar aqueles da esquerda que defendem ou fazem gosto a essas atitudes antidemocráticas, sob o risco de eles próprios se tornarem antidemocráticos se não o fizerem.
A esquerda precisa de uma autoavaliação e de uma autorregulação de seus valores. Ou poderão simplesmente ser classificados como ditatoriais.
Mas isso não vai acontecer. Aqueles que erguem a bandeira do amor são raivosos demais contra seus opositores para se permitirem essa autoanálise.
A imagem clássica da morte de uma democracia é a de um golpe militar, com tanques nas ruas. Hoje isso é raro. O caminho mais comum e mais traiçoeiro é o deslizamento gradual rumo ao autoritarismo. Um líder é legitimamente eleito e usa as próprias instituições democráticas para esvaziá-las por dentro.
Qualquer semelhança com o Brasil atual não é mera coincidência.
