Loaded gun at my apartment? ✅ Knife at my throat? ✅ I've had those experiences, I know the game, and 100% get what you're trying to say here, but why would active criminals be in Venezuela right now? The vast majority of people with money in the country are connected to the old government + have more money, connections, and power than God Robbing an "enchufado" would be a death sentence I assume Which was part of the point, the active criminals have left en masse Furthermore... Most guys on here still believe Venezuela is a straight up warzone, which is incorrect In fact, I'd venture to say places like Lecheria and Isla de Margarita are safer than many spots in Latin America digital nomads flock to on the daily
5 out of 6 guys who play Russian roulette will say “guys it’s actually pretty safe” I’m tired of hearing Gringo’s say “it’s safe” bc nothing happened to them. The question is… if you were an active criminal, which country would YOU want to work in? And you know the answer I learned the hard way: you are only as safe as the cops are strong Every day you bet your life on that justice system. Will they care? Will detectives track them down & will non-corrupt judges sentence them? If not… unless you have gang connections…. there’s no disincentive stopping them. You just got lucky. Bc every time we laugh about how easy it is to buy off the police, how much “freedom” that country has… we gotta remember that the criminal gets that same advantage too Risk is invisible until it is inevitable. When you are staring down the barrel of a gun… there’s that other voice in your head that says “I fucking TOLD you this could happen” I have been there and heard that voice, thats why I am that voice right now, for you. Guys will say “ahh you’re a pussy!”. Well bro, if you’ve never had loaded guns pointed at you by someone w/ an 80 IQ & no particular reason to let you, a witness, live… your opinion doesn’t matter

Simon Andriesz, the British banker who uncovered 2018 emails linking Howard Lutnick to Jeffrey Epstein’s Adfin investment and took them to House Oversight, has died at age 57. BBC reported his findings. Lutnick later admitted to visiting the island but not the business dealings.
Simon Andriesz @SAndriesz has died. He took his own life this week, while staying at a trauma treatment centre, the same place he had gone to try to survive what years of fighting had done to him. I wrote the piece below about him at the start of August. We last spoke on 13 August. Reading my own words back now feels different. Heavier. I did not know then that this would be the last chapter. Simon gave me his story directly. The embezzlement he uncovered, the fraud he reported, the heart attacks, the police complaints, the years @TheFCA spent doing almost nothing while his life fell apart around him. He handed the CFTC and HMRC enough to secure real fines. He handed the BBC enough for a full documentary. And still the one regulator that was supposed to protect him let him carry all of it alone for 7 years. He was one of the most credible people I have ever spoken to. Everything he told me checked out. And he still ended up broken by the very system meant to catch people like him when they fell. I am angry writing this. Angry that a man this capable, this thorough, this willing to hand over evidence and testimony for years, was left to fight completely alone until he could not fight anymore. Simon Andriesz deserved better. Rest in peace. If you are struggling right now, please do not go through it alone. OpenAI and Anthropic have some fucking nerve complaining about distillation. Human beings spent decades writing code, explaining science, answering questions and sharing what they knew. AI labs trained on that work and built businesses selling the results back to us. THEY DISTILLED ALL OF US. Now someone pays for their API and uses the answers to train a competing model. Suddenly we get bans and reports about "distillation attacks". OpenAI literally offers a distillation workflow. They will help you train a smaller model using a bigger model's answers on their platform. But use those answers to build a competitor and you broke the rules. Their terms even say I own the output. I paid for it, I supposedly own it, but they still decide what models I can build with it. You spent years defending a machine's ability to learn from other people's work. Keep defending it when the work is yours. Thats why I support Chinese labs releasing weights I can download, run and build on. And you can fuck off.

🇵🇦 COSTA DEL ESTE, PANAMA 🇵🇦 Ronan McMahon has scouted international real estate for nearly 23 years, and Panama is where he started in 2004 Now, for the first time in years, he's buying here again, in a tower I can watch going up from my balcony One example from the project... → 2-bedrooms from just under $376K for members of his group, Real Estate Trend Alert → His projection: $600K, 5 years after delivery → Pay about 50% during the ~30-month build, then developer financing available for other 50% → Resort-style amenities on what he calls the last true waterfront lot of its type I've bought in 2 of his past deals in Costa Rica 🇨🇷 and I'm running the numbers on this one He gave me 4 reasons for buying now, including why capital and people flood into Panama in good times and bad 👇 youtube.com/watch?v=CKnZG2nb…

When talking Venezuela 🇻🇪 I do NOT think safety is the issue in 2026... Venezuela *felt* quite safe to me overall The issue is functionality: → Americans need a visa → You're going to have problems w/ electricity + water → Internet wasn't great → Things just won't work how you expect On the flip-side... This is what makes it fun Traveling in Venezuela in 2026 actually feels like an adventure, feels like the great unknown Something I haven't felt for years

Oh and one last point... Venezuela 🇻🇪 in 2026 feels like stepping into a time capsule You feel like you're living 10-20 years in the past It's different than anywhere else I've been in years, I enjoyed the hell out of it But this is not a country that has modernized like Panama, Colombia, or Costa Rica Venezuela is uniquely Venezuela, and it feels more like 2008 than 2026
