The message that you should be taking away from the HBO series, if you've truly honed your media literacy to a razor edge, is that its stupidity and ingratitude to the source material is a far better refutation of the original than its actual attempts at refutation. Moore comes from a cohort of decrepit old leftists who genuinely believed in their day that they could create a better world, and that doing so justified whatever means they used. You're not meant to self-insert into Veidt, sure, but you are supposed to be a good little Nite Owl and do nothing while this imaginary revolutionary saves the stupid world from itself. Intentionally or not, Lindelof depicted exactly the world that would come of this. Rorschach isn't believed in HBO's Watchmen, except by the right-wing fringe. Veidt won. Except... His "victory" achieved nothing. The world has sunk into a bitter malaise. The peace brought about by the "alien" attacks is held to, but society didn't improve in any way. Why was it written this way? Because the Cold War was long enough ago that even aging leftists like Lindelof forgot about it. Lofty causes like "prevent nuclear annihilation" are silly and out of date now, and leftists are rather embarrassed to have ever been associated with them. After all, we never had an alien invasion in real life, we never had superheroes, and yet nuclear war never happened. Capitalism won, the right wing won, America became absolute hegemon. All the things that Moore and his cohort said would usher in Doom did not. History just trundled on. And all that's left, in the case of the Watchmen, is a collection of characters who compromised their morals and made peace with evil. For the sake of a cause we now know was totally unnecessary. Everyone Veidt killed died for nothing. There was never going to be a nuclear war. And of course there was only one character who never compromised himself. You were supposed to spite him for it, and yes, you were supposed to assume that his principles led to disaster, but now we know they didn't. Now we know he was just the only one who had a spine. Under those conditions, you are going to have a very very hard time getting people to prefer a coward who killed millions for nothing to an "edgy neckbeard" who tried to save them.
It's heavily forshadowed that Rorschach's uncompromising morality starts a nuclear exchange. Moore thinks being alive is preferable to being an edgy neckbeard. Unless you believe that stupid HBO show was canon and everyone just gets really lucky when the truth is revealed.

The wild thing is George and the Dragon has now become so removed from the Western lexicon that people don't know WHY George saved her. He wasn't saving HER specifically. He was slaying the Dragon due to the town's cowardice. After they ran out of sheep, they offered a woman.
The concept of a woman being worth saving from a dragon is foreign to us.

Idc about the context behind >checks notes "Disrespecting a great and highly honored Saint of God by presuming to tell a story where she actually fell from grace instead of the real thing, which is way cooler anyways" Yes, I am, in fact, allowed to be offended at this

"read a book," i did, i read her trial: this is false. the Burgundians executed her for heresy bc they had no other charges to her name. it was not the Catholic Church itself, but a group of noblemen, etc. and Bishop Pierre Cauchon, who used his clergical power for political gain
Replying to @sipofmarmalade
bro. you literally executed her for heresy, crossdressing, and claiming to talk to god. read a book. also lets not act like Castlevania hasn't had a more nuanced take on good and evil before. Dracula's wife?

She did the complete opposite in real life Like literally, her faith had her refuse to renounce Unironically you say in the comments they “humanized her” when the actual, living human being did the exact opposite Ghouls
Game depicts her as manipulated by an evil voice in her moment of weakness (being BURNED AT THE STAKE) and then proceeds to encourage you to bring her spirit to places to pray and continue her peity as she gives you her magic to defeat the forces of evil.... Do yall even play?

Discourse around this post show how much fanfiction has ruined people's ability to think critically. In fanfiction you can do whatever you want to a person, real or fake, and expect no repercussions because we're all just here to have fun. You can't conflate this with real fiction, which has a point, a message, and a bias. If someone has bias against Gustavus Adolphus for instance, and portrays him as a villain in a historical fiction about the thirty years' war, maybe even go as far to make him objectively evil, then Swedes came out and said "hey guys this is disparaging and offensive to us" would everyone be saying "hey it's just fiction don't get offended" Or (I hate to use him but obtuse midwits don't know any other historical figures so for the sake of argument I will), if someone made a show where Hitler was the good guy and the jews were cartoonishly evil, we would call that out as hateful. Society has deemed it okay for certain figures, specifically Satan, St. Joan, the Crusaders, and Inquisitors, to be "deconstructed" and fictionalized without any guardrails, and Christians have a right to call this out. We do not have to accept perversion of our faith or history.
Newest Castlevania perversely depicts a canonized saint giving into the demonic as an insult to her martyrdom. This was an intentional choice, they knew what they were doing. Do not support this game.

Voldemort: "Barty, report!" Barty: "Well, Potter and Malfoy are dating. They went on a Hogsmeade outing." Voldemort: "And...?" Barty: "Aside from a few arguments, and Potter's friends trying to interfere, it went well. Weasley's proving to be a problem: His date at the ball was a disaster." Voldemort: "What, is he jealous?" Barty: "More of the relationships his friends are having. Perhaps more of Granger getting closer to Krum. Shall I eliminate him?" Voldemort: "No, no... Honestly, he has so many older brothers and not one of them taught him about girls? His father has, what, eight children? He didn't spare a moment to sort him out?" Barty: "Sorry Master." Voldemort: "Drop a hint to Malfoy to get one of her girls onto Weasley, that may end this situation. Now... The Second Task." Barty: "All is prepared Master. Diggory gave Potter a hint for the egg, and will figure it out with the help of his friends and my secret advice." Voldemort: "You're sure Malfoy will be his hostage?" Barty: "Of course Master! And I encouraged the Judges to put crystal eye recorders down around the Merfolk village so the audience could actually see what's happening." Voldemort: "Seriously, their original plans were just to have the audience stare at the lake for an hour?! WHO COMES UP WITH THIS NONSENSE?! The Wizarding World should be begging for my return! At least my sporting events will allow the spectators to see what's going on!" Barty: "Yes Master." Voldemort: "This also means we will get to see Potter rescue Malfoy! Ohhh, it will be so cu-sweet to see their bond deepen so that I will eventually use it to destroy him!" Barty: "Yes Master!" Voldemort: "What of Lucius, Barty? How has he reacted to the relationship?" Barty: "Reportedly, not well. He is threatening to send Malfoy to Beauxbatons if she does not break off things." Voldemort: "Ugh... I shall have to deal with him, too. Still, makes for a smashing film, doesn't it Wormtail?" Wormtail: "Was... Was that a Monty Python reference, Master?" Voldemort: "Of course it was you fool! And speaking of pythons-" Wormtail: "ACK! PLEASE MASTER! NO CRUCIO! I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING I SWEAR!" Voldemort: "... No. No, that would make no sense for me to Crucio you after that joke. What are you, stupid?" Wormtail: "Oh... Thank you Master." Voldemort: "But Nagini says you got her some very bad rats for dinner so I'm going to let her bite you for a while to teach you a lesson. Nagini?" Nagini: <With pleasure, Master.> *SNAP!* Wormtail: "AAARRRRGGHHHH!" Voldemort: "Honestly, following up a Python reference with a Crucio? Leave the jokes to the professionals, Wormtail."

Yes, it truly exposes Islam
Thank God for the internet. It exposed Islam. For years, people were told that Islam was a religion of peace, mercy and justice. But now, the world can see what happens when religious authority goes unquestioned. We can see innocent children being married off, abused and robbed of their childhood in the name of religion. We can see innocent souls facing death for blasphemy because someone decided that insulting a prophet deserves more punishment than destroying a human life. We can see women being forced to cover themselves in black, not because they freely chose to, but because religious authorities have turned their bodies into battlegrounds for their beliefs. We can see preachers using Muhammad's name to justify cruelty, oppression and suffering. We can see how religion is used to silence questions, excuse abuse and make people accept things they would otherwise recognise as wrong. The internet has exposed it all. Those who use Allah's name to justify atrocities can no longer hide behind religion.

So do essentially all vocations outside of ones involving exclusively living in a monastery. We're all running on different difficulties, but morons will twist this into "SEE, being incel is better than being married!" while also doing jack with their time
Marriage does not exclude a person from the kingdom of God, but it offers a hindrance.

A lifestyle brand unrecognizable from its golden years where discussion around it is led by Welfare Weebs and “blerds” who pretend to read comics but only to promote their elevated concept that is varying degrees of “what if [established white character] but black”. Embarrassing.
