🚨 An illegal alien from Haiti ran over two children in Indianapolis and killed one. He was let into our country under Joe Biden.
ICE needs to redeploy to Indiana and finish the job so this never happens again. My office will be happy to assist however we can
The Marion County Sheriff's Office says a Haitian national who is accused of running over two children, killing one of them then speeding away, was mistakenly listed as a U.S. citizen because he has a U.S. Social Security card.
Franck Bazil is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident, a Level 4 felony and leaving the scene of a serious accident, a Level 6 felony.
He was arrested on Oct. 4, not long after the incident on Indy's northwest side.
9-year-old Roland Jerome McLain III died at the hospital. A 6-year-old was also hospitalized with critical injuries.
Bazil is being held in jail on a federal ICE hold, however the public inmate dashboard initially listed him as a U.S. citizen.
MCSO just shared a lengthy statement, saying that the entry was because jail staff located a valid Indiana driver's license and a valid social security card.
"Believing the information had been entered incorrectly, the supervisor changed the citizenship and country-of-birth fields to 'United States' in an attempt to correct what he believed was an error."
MCSO said that the supervisor later acknowledged the mistake.
According to MCSO, Bazil was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in January 2024 for "Alien Inadmissibility."
MSCO said that Bazil was then issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security Administration on February 29, 2024.
"MCSO cannot independently confirm Bazil's immigration status or explain the circumstances surrounding the issuance of his Indiana Driver's license or Social Security card."
Bazil's own attorney told a judge in court last week that Bazil is not a U.S. citizen.
We have reached out to the Indiana BMV and Social Security Administration for clarification and follow ups.
MCSO said that regardless of the circumstances, Bazil having an active ICE hold means he has not been released from custody.
We are also reaching out to DHS/ICE for comment.
