PROSECUTION OPENING 1/2- Here is a summary in NC v Miguel Salguero-Olivares in the Faith Hedgepeth murder trial:
Faith Hedgepeth was a 19-year-old student at UNC-Chapel Hill from the Haliwa-Saponi tribe in Hollister, NC. She was on track to be the first in her family to graduate college.
In September 2012, Faith was temporarily staying in a small single-bedroom apartment with her close friend/roommate, Karina Rosario. Because they shared only one apartment key, they frequently left their apartment door unlocked, depending on who had the key.
On the night of September 6, Faith acted as the designated driver to take Karina to a local club called The Thrill. Karina was intoxicated, while Faith was sober. They left when the club closed around 2:00 AM.
They returned to their Chapel Hill apartment around 3:00 AM. Karina spent time in the bathroom feeling sick and trying to contact friends.
A male friend (Jordan) picked up Karina around 4:25–4:30 AM. Karina called out to Faith (assuming she was asleep), left the apartment key behind, and left the front door unlocked.
