Kyle Shanahan in his interview with Raheem Morris this offseason after Raheem asked him if he thought the 49ers defensive injuries were just a thing of the past.

That's the third starter on the 49ers defensive line in September to get hurt in practice the week of the game and have to miss multiple weeks.

I coached against Bijan Robinson in high school. We doubled him when he went into the slot. Didn't try to hide it. Put 2 on him at the line of scrimmage. Calvin Johnson vs. Saints meme Bijan beat both of our guys and scored. He got open by like 5 yards. He's a different breed.

Adding to this, Halton was the only defensive tackle in Week 2 to finish in the top 10 in both pressure % and run stop %. He did it going against a 1st rounder from '26, a 2nd rounder from '25, and arguably the best center in the game. Early on, he looks like the 49ers best DT

Upton Stout is really Taz from Looney Tunes. Watch the chaos he creates. It's 3rd & 10. The Dolphins throw a screen, anticipating a screen. Stout runs over the top of the TE, goes full Taz, and spins. The TE goes flying into the ball carrier. Stop. Punt.

Raheem Morris manipulates the protection to get exactly what he wants. The top DCs will always attack the back. He uses Bosa's gravity to his advantage here. Warner walks up to occupy the center. The line slanting basically makes it a 1-on-1 drill for Stout vs. the RB. No chance

Osa Odighizuwa had a 22.2% pressure rate vs. the Rams. That would've been the third highest number for any 49ers pass rusher in any '25 game. Odighizuwa is more than half of the way to the majority of the DTs total pressures on the roster from a year ago after one game.

The 49ers defense stopped shooting themselves in the foot after the first quarter. They missed two tackles on one play. Since then, they've only missed one in three quarters. Big change from the games last year.

I think Raheem Morris has something with this dime personnel package. Greenlaw comes off for Jack Jones. Lenoir and Stout play in the slot. You take so much pressure off the safeties by having an extra coverage player. Can also be more aggressive up front. This is gonna stick.

The Rams have scored once on 8 drives, are being outgained by nearly a full yard per play, have half the first downs of the 49ers, are 2-for-8 on third and fourth down, and have two turnovers. This is what it looks like when you get your teeth knocked in.

I'm finding a way to get Gracen Halton on the field more after that drive. He had a couple of disruptive plays. Something the 49ers have been lacking at DT outside of Odighizuwa today.

49ers running back snaps in the 1st half: Christian McCaffrey - 21 Kaelon Black - 16 Deebo Samuel - 2 CMC has only 3 carries but has 6 targets. Black has 7 rushes with one target.

4 drops. An interception in plus territory. A 7-minute drive that ended with 3 points when you had a goal-to-go situation. And you're going into halftime with the lead and get the ball to begin the 3rd quarter.

Shanahan's sequencing all game has been $$$. He's gotta great read on what the Rams are trying to do

All it takes is 1 play. Upton Stout makes a stop on 1st down. Morris changes the looks with disguises that result in pressure on the next two downs. Renardo Green rewards him with an INT. It's a huge year for Green. Good start.

That weak side defender getting depth has been invisible to Purdy since he became a starter. Just doesn't make any sense

No other threats to your side and that one threat is Puka Nacua and somehow Ji'Ayir Brown is still late. Brown thinks he's so much faster than he actually is. That's a problem. Greenlaw's tackling is the cherry on the top at the end. And that's how a 3rd & 2 around midfield becomes 1st & goal and eventually a TD.
