Thrilled to share our latest work out now in CIR. We uncovered paradoxical role of EphA4 in HNSCC: it drives tumor growth when in Tregs, but suppresses it in CD8+ T cells, myeloid cells, and cancer cells. The secret? Upstream negative regulation of AKT. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/4264…

A broader lesson from this journey: beware of pleiotropic effects. Not everything that goes "up" is inherently bad, and vice versa. Our story started by simply seeing EphA4 upregulated during therapeutic resistance, but years of functional manipulation uncovered the biology.

Stoked to share our new paper w/ @TiroshLab in @NatureGenet! Using spatial multi-omics we characterized two distinct modes of p-EMT in HNSCC, each with their own distinct ecosystems and drivers. #SpatialTranscriptomics #HNSCC #Visium #CODEX #EMT nature.com/articles/s41588-0…

Excited to share our new work by Jay Park @janghyun_park_ and friends! Jay found lymphoid structures in the skull bone marrow that seem to be serving immune hub role for the brain... brain, after all, may not be using "common lymph nodes" but rather has its own unique immune hubs and Jay showed their role in brain tumors... but their role in likely much more than that. This is a long paper but it is worth the read || nature.com/articles/s41586-0…
