A dying cattle ranch in the Mexican desert got handed to 47 bison last year. Within months the land started repairing itself, because bison and cattle treat the same ground in opposite ways. Cattle camp. They park near water, eat everything in a radius, and compact the soil until rain runs off instead of soaking in. A century of that turned this stretch of Coahuila into crust and shrub. Bison roam. They graze a patch and move on. Their hooves punch through the hardened crust so water soaks in again. They eat the dead grass that fuels wildfires. Their dung pulls in beetles that aerate the soil, and seeds hitch rides in their fur and get planted miles away. Every behavior that made bison a nightmare for ranchers is exactly what degraded desert soil needs. The animal is a walking restoration crew. The results showed up fast. Camera traps at the reserve are catching pumas, lynx, and collared peccaries moving back in. Local birds are already lining their nests with shed bison fur. Hunters wiped bison from this region around 160 years ago. The herd that fixed it descends from just 23 animals brought to Chihuahua in 2009. Sixteen years from 23 bison to a desert that heals itself.
Mexico reintroduced bison in the Chihuahuan Desert after it was hunted to extinction around 160 years ago. In just months, they restored the ecosystem itself. The bovines have proven essential at regenerating soils, reducing wildfire risk and strengthening biodiversity.

Once tropical rainforest burns, it won’t recover in our lifetime. 🌳❌ Endangered species will disappear. The fires in Indonesia are a failure from the entire world. Humanity that priorities profit over the environment is a global issue that has sparked these fires, literally. 🔥 Borneo is the most ecologically important rainforest on earth due to its extreme biodiversity and fragility. We have to fight to protect every last inch of it! 🦧

The Great Gaza Scam; Just Listen to Hamas: What you’re seeing in this video is the plain truth, even though it’s coming from slain Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh. I was directly involved in one of the efforts he’s indirectly referring to. This is a confession from a jihadist organization responsible for immense harm, acknowledging that Gaza’s blockade & conditions were not because Israel was hell‑bent on blocking development. Israel became the lazy, convenient explanation & excuse for people unwilling to look beneath the surface and understand what actually happened in Gaza over the last twenty years. Here, the head of Hamas admits there were real offers on the table: an airport, a seaport, new industries, major cash infusions – opportunities dating back to 2014. Former Israeli officials like Shaul Mofaz floated plans to raise tens of billions for Gaza’s development, and large parts of Israel’s security establishment were open to letting Gaza grow and prosper. Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Western governments were prepared to invest serious money, far beyond just humanitarian aid. In 2015, I launched a multi‑year effort to build an internationally run, Israeli‑approved airport in al‑Mawasi, southern Gaza Strip. The proposal drew intrigue from senior Israeli officials, including Herzi Halevi and Avigdor Lieberman. In 2017, through intermediaries, I even appealed directly to Yahya Sinwar, Hamas’s former chief and architect of October 7, urging him to consider the airport proposal and think strategically about Gaza’s future. So, what was the price that Israel and the world wanted in exchange for all of this? As Haniyeh states in this video, the price was Gaza’s disarmament and demilitarization so that it wouldn’t be dragged into endless, self‑destructive wars. Hamas was offered a dignified off‑ramp: integrating its employees and former fighters into civilian police, receiving salaries, and shifting toward nation‑building instead of terrorism. That offer was real, with a political pathway for the group. After October 7, and Gaza’s vast destruction, tens of thousands killed, and $ billions wasted, Hamas is forcibly entertaining disarmament and demilitarization. This video exposes the “resistance” cheerleaders who celebrated October 7 and the Westerners who insist Gaza could never have developed because of Israel. Listen to Hamas; whether you support them or think they are useful idiots, Gaza’s development was blocked because the terror Islamist group turned the territory into a fortress of violence, tunnels, rockets, smuggling, and radicalization. And no, Gaza and the West Bank are not comparable cases. Gaza had a genuine chance to become the crown jewel of the Palestinian people, a truly compelling model of prosperity and self‑rule. The pathway forward requires introspection, accountability, responsibility, and Palestinian agency.

BREAKING: Leaked Andrew Tate texts are looking VERY bad for the Trump admin… Texts from Andrew Tate reveal that a Trump admin official directly intervened on the Tate brothers behalf in early 2025 to stall the sex trafficking investigation. “I had word from The Trump admin that theyre on top of things,” wrote Andrew Tate via text. Tate’s former lawyer, Paul Ingrassia, is now a Trump admin official, and is the one who requested the Tate brothers devices be returned to them. You may remember Paul Ingrassia from his leaked texts last year in which he said he “has a Nazi streak” and uses old slurs.
JD Vance still follows the Tate brothers on Twitter. Barron is friends him them. All of this happened after Andrew admitted to being a pimp on camera. This is the Republican Party now. I’m a young dude who loves America, and hates seeing it hijacked by these hateful , abusive, degenerates.

The North American Butterfly Association has some choice words for butterfly releases: "a particularly long-lasting form of environmental pollution." Harsh, but you'll see why in a minute. Commercially farmed butterflies are raised in crowded conditions that breed a parasite called OE (Ophryocystis elektroscirrha). When farmed monarchs are released, they can carry that parasite into wild populations that are already at record lows. Infected monarchs often can't emerge from the chrysalis properly, or emerge with crumpled wings they can't fly on. Disease isn't the only concern. Farmed monarchs may carry genetics poorly suited to wild survival, including disrupted migration instincts. Monarch populations have dropped roughly 80 to 90% in recent decades. The last thing they need is boxes of farmed butterflies introducing disease at weddings and funerals. If you want butterflies, plant native milkweed and nectar flowers at your new home together instead. You'll get wild butterflies in droves, the kind that belong there, for years.

The US mows roughly 12 million acres of roadside every year. That's larger than the state of Maryland, maintained as mowed grass that feeds almost nothing, at a cost of hundreds of millions of dollars annually. North Carolina figured out a better use for it in 1985. What started as 12 experimental acres of native wildflowers planted along roadsides has grown to 1,500 managed acres across the state, saving an estimated $200,000 a year in mowing costs while providing habitat for pollinators, birds, and the beneficial insects that control crop pests on nearby farms. A 2024 BioScience review found something surprising to many: a mown safety strip immediately adjacent to the pavement, with native wildflowers planted in the wider verge beyond it, actually reduces insect mortality by keeping pollinators on one side of the road rather than crossing it. 12 million acres is an enormous amount of potential habitat that currently does almost nothing. The fix isn't complicated. It's mostly just stopping the mower in the right places. Studies: Doi 10.1093/biosci/biad111 Doi 10.1007/s10841-018-0051-2

That little rock stack in the creek probably felt harmless. I get it. People see flat rocks, build a tiny tower, take a picture, and move on. It feels like nothing. But in a stream, rocks aren't toys and decorations: they're crucial habitat. Dragonfly larvae cling to them. Caddisflies build around them. Mayflies, stoneflies, water beetles, snails, crayfish, salamanders, fish eggs - all kinds of tiny stream life use the cracks, shadows, undersides, and flow breaks around those rocks. Before dragonflies ever become the thing you see flying around your yard, they spend most of their lives underwater as predators. Some species stay there for years. They eat mosquito larvae, midges, and other small aquatic animals long before they ever grow wings. So when a rock gets pulled out of the creek and stacked on the bank, whatever was living on it or under it may suddenly be exposed to air, sun, heat, and predators. One person stacking three rocks destroys an entire stream, that's the wrong way to think about it. But that the habit scales badly. One person does it. Then another. Then twenty people do it. Pretty soon a living creek bed has been rearranged into somebody's little art project. And for bigger animals, the stakes can be even higher. Hellbenders, North America’s giant aquatic salamanders, live under large flat rocks. Males prepare nest spaces under them and guard the eggs there. Move the wrong rock at the wrong time and you killed a nursery. This isn't about never having fun outside. It's just one of those small things we can stop doing once we know better.

I leant upon a coppice gate When Frost was spectre-grey, And Winter's dregs made desolate The weakening eye of day. The tangled bine-stems scored the sky Like strings of broken lyres, And all mankind that haunted nigh Had sought their household fires. The land's sharp features seemed to be The Century's corpse outleant, His crypt the cloudy canopy, The wind his death-lament. The ancient pulse of germ and birth Was shrunken hard and dry, And every spirit upon earth Seemed fervourless as I. At once a voice arose among The bleak twigs overhead In a full-hearted evensong Of joy illimited; An aged thrush, frail, gaunt, and small, In blast-beruffled plume, Had chosen thus to fling his soul Upon the growing gloom. So little cause for carolings Of such ecstatic sound Was written on terrestrial things Afar or nigh around, That I could think there trembled through His happy good-night air Some blessed Hope, whereof he knew And I was unaware. Most dragonflies over your yard this summer spent years underwater before they ever flew. And they ate tons of mosquito larvae while they were there. The adult stage, the iridescent blur catching mosquitoes in midair, lasts a few weeks to a couple of months. Before that, the dragonfly lived underwater as a nymph for anywhere from one to five years depending on the species and climate. Breathing through gills. Molting more than a dozen times. Hunting from the mud, ambushing mosquito larvae, water beetles, tadpoles, and anything else that wandered too close. The nymph doesn't look like anything you'd recognize. It's dark, armored, and built low to the bottom. It can jet-propel itself by expelling water. It has a modified lower lip that shoots forward to snatch prey faster than you can follow with your eyes. When it's finally ready, it climbs up a plant stem out of the water, splits its own skin open, and pulls itself out as something completely different. The wings inflate. The colors come in. A few hours later it flies. So when a dragonfly hovers over your garden this week, it earned it. It's the final act of an animal that spent years as an underwater predator before it ever saw the sky.

If you have a bug zapper up, it's time to take that shit down. A landmark University of Delaware study (Frick and Tallamy, 1996) counted nearly 14,000 insects killed by residential bug zappers over a single summer. Mosquitoes were 31 of them. A mere 0.22%. The other 99.78% were moths, beetles, midges, fireflies, and the night-shift pollinators your yard depends on. Mosquitoes don't navigate by light. They find you by your carbon dioxide, body heat, and skin chemistry. Your bug zapper is invisible to them and lethal to almost everything else. Harvard Medical School's Zika page specifically warns against bug zappers because they may increase mosquito populations by killing the predators that eat them. What actually works: eliminate standing water within 100 feet of where you spend time outside. Bug zappers are 1970s technology built on a 1970s misunderstanding of mosquitoes. It's time to take it down.
