I can answer that, because I organized the meeting. It was a roundtable of Oregon business owners organized to discuss taxes, regulation, permitting, employment costs and the challenges of operating and growing businesses in Oregon. In fact, the article Kotek herself linked describes it as a “roundtable with business leaders” about those issues. It does not establish that this was a donor event. I personally reached out seeking a conversation with BOTH Drazan and Governor Kotek’s office about what businesses like ours are experiencing. Drazan called me directly. Kotek’s office never responded to my email. So I would genuinely like to know what evidence supports characterizing the people in the room as “business donors.” I know why we were there. I brought the room together. We were there asking our state government to listen to Oregon business owners — not attending a fundraiser.
