Today, exactly 20 years from the day that I launched my website, I've release Archive Volume One, a compilation of over 500 pages of my writings from 2005 to 2008. Now available in paperback and hardcover on Amazon. lincoln.metacannon.net/2025/…

The creators of He-Man must have understood the doctrine of theosis. Adam of Eternia transforms into He-Man: “the most powerful man in the universe.” In other words, Adam transfigures into God. youtube.com/watch?v=7yeA7a0u…

I have no doubt that he has a high IQ. But that’s yet another example of an inconvenient truth: intelligence doesn’t correlate with ethics. What actually does correlate with ethics? Decentralization of power — exactly the opposite of what he suggests we ought to rely on.
156
I’m seeing fear-mongering about the risks of AI swarms. Few seem to understand that such decentralization has a preferable risk profile to singleton AIs. When there’s one bad agent in a swarm, others can marginalize it. When there’s one bad agent in a singleton, it’s game over.

Global AI development almost certainly will not stop or even slow much. What it can do is shift hands — from few to many, or few to one. There are real risks, most notably centralization — yes, some things are worse than death. The answer is ongoing decentralized development.

Unless it presents me with perpetual opportunity to persuade my friends, all my friends no matter how obstinate and no matter how dead, to join me, I will not consent to calling it “heaven.”

Russians are voting, uh … I mean, Russians are sustaining Putin. All those in favor may so indicate.

The Singleton centralizes intelligence, agency, and power. The Multiton decentralizes them among mutually constraining agents. The Singularity converges toward dominance. The Multiplicity converges toward cooperation, at its limit practically indistinguishable from compassion.

Trump makes the case for the singleton. He’d have us believe that, as long as power is centralized in him, everything’s fine. That’s a disastrously foolish perspective, even if his character was virtuous — which, of course, it’s not. nbcnews.com/politics/trump-a…

Compassion, generalized: decentralization forces cooperation, and cooperation at its limit looks like compassion. A civilization with more decentralized power is probably more compassionate. lincoln.metacannon.net/2026/…

“we'll either be jobless and struggling to survive or living in an AI-supported utopia” False dichotomy. And the second is not necessarily utopia. Pets and slaves can live in “utopia.”

AI risk won't be durably resolved by slowing down. It requires decentralization. Proliferation has risks, of course. But concentrated AI power is existentially worse, approaching a singleton with no peer capable of constraining it. We should break up Anthropic and OpenAI, and all other large centralized AI providers, while we still can. bbc.com/news/articles/c14dpg…

Damn the scammers who leverage Apple and Google ads to manipulate and rob vulnerable populations. And shame on Apple and Google for profiting from their scams.

All those years you spent in uncritical appeals to authority make you a honey pot for AI manipulation — and ultimately slavery to the Singleton. Critical thinking is now more important than ever. Read some philosophy while you still can.

Asserting that AI makes you dumb is like asserting other people make you dumb. Of course they'll make you dumb if you rely on them for everything, doing nothing for yourself, and thinking nothing for yourself. But you also don't have to relate with other people or AI that way.
