Should adult children be expected to care for their aging parents?
I’m not just talking about helping when you can. I mean the expectation that you should become a caregiver, provide financial help, move them into your home or rearrange your entire life because they’re getting older.
On one hand, these are the people who raised you. There can be a deep sense of responsibility and gratitude.
But what if the relationship was complicated? What if they weren’t good parents? What if you live across the country, have your own family or simply don’t have the ability to provide the level of care they need?

Imagine having a man die of an overdose in your house & begging police not to call next of kin because his brother, being the closest next of kin, just left your house 4 hrs before the dead guy got there & you were intimate with both. To top off your wonderful morning, u have warrants on file so u have to go to jail after the medical examiner leaves.
Of course, the entire way to the jail I get told how heartless I am for taking her to jail & calling the dead guys brother because now he probably won't bond her out of jail. Then she says "Maybe I can call his cousin. Can u get that number for me out of my contacts list?"😏👮♂️
