Clearly @hmpps does not believe in its own delivery of rehabilitation!
Again, why the special focus on PCOSOs, @AlexJJNorris and @MetroUK? Those 4/5ths actually guilty have the lowest recidivism rates, and are those guilty of online fraud or selling drugs to kids of such less concern than someone who might have stroked someone's knee in 1976?

WE’RE IN THE HERALD. 🗞️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 My petition calling on the Scottish Parliament to seek answers about what has happened since the landmark UK Supreme Court judgment on fair trial rights reached The Best Scottish Paper 🙏 More than 1,000 of you have already signed as most of you know this scandal will be bigger than the Post Office scandal once it fully unfolds 💔 The Supreme Court found that the approach Scottish courts had taken since 2013 was too restrictive and risked depriving accused people of their right to a fair trial. Senior justice figures warned Parliament of significant consequences. Yet, as The Herald reports today: “But since then, and with a new parliament elected in May, no further information has been provided.” That’s the point. We need answers, transparency and scrutiny about how many cases may be affected and what Scotland is actually doing in response. Thank you to everyone who has signed and shared and to Kathleen Nutt and The Herald for continuing to shine a light on this. 1,000 signatures and national coverage. Let’s keep going. ❤️ Sign the petition here: petitions.parliament.scot/pe… heraldscotland.com/news/2660…

Interesting, given that Argentinian lawyers think that false allegations are so much of a problem that it warrants their attendance at International Falsely Accused Day in London in 2025. There’s something that the South American public knows that researchers don’t, or they choose to ignore. @IFAD9S @EmpowerInnocent @seanbwparker @lizyeld @JIMSOfficial

Amended post after deleting my previous and fact checking. So here we go. These pair of not fit for purpose scum bags, grossly overstepped the mark with regards to the manner in which they themselves escalated the event. If you have never been in a position where you judge the use of force level, I'd suggest you dont try and justify their actions. Now, thats better. gbnews.com/news/sussex-polic…

Yes. It’s the no-smoke-without-fire attitude. It’s very short sighted.

Some in society are convinced if you are arrested and charged you are guilty. They never consider the shortcomings of the police, duty lawyer, cps and courts.

It seems high profile cases appear to get granted leave to appeal without explanation why. The grounds are very specific, it must be new evidence not available to defence at trial in a nutshell. Other cases have you jumping through hoops for have your appeal granted especially where the application is through the CCRC.

Twelve false allegations against six men accused of rape leading to the devastation of lives and reputations. Khloe Simmonds has been jailed for seven-and-a-half years after a sustained campaign of lies spanning nearly eight years. One falsely accused man said his relationship was destroyed, his brothers stopped speaking to him and he repeatedly attempted to take his own life. But consider this: had those lies secured convictions, the innocent men accused could have faced sentences many times longer than the sentence handed down to Simmonds. Where is the parity in justice? In my view, a malicious false accuser should face punishment commensurate with the punishment their victim could have suffered had the lie prevailed. I know what it means to be falsely accused of monstrous crimes. After the disastrous Operation Midland investigation, we were repeatedly assured that false allegations were exceptionally rare. Then Norfolk Chief Constable Simon Bailey asserted that just 0.1% of complaints were false. Retired High Court Judge Sir Richard Henriques challenged the policing culture that treated complainants as victims from the outset and warned against prejudging allegations. Operation Midland should have taught policing an unforgettable lesson: an allegation is not evidence and that the presumption of innocence is not an inconvenience to be discarded. Of course genuine allegations of rape must be investigated rigorously and sensitively. But the police must investigate - not simply believe. And they must recognise an equally uncomfortable truth: malicious false accusers exist. The question raised by this case is therefore unavoidable: how was Simmonds able to make repeated false allegations over so many years before being stopped? When an allegation alone can wreck a reputation, destroy relationships and turn an innocent person’s life upside down, the stakes could scarcely be higher. Until the criminal justice system fully accepts that reality, innocent people will remain at risk. @FACTukorg Trans woman falsely accused six men of rape telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/09…

Justice, finally, has caught up with the gravity of Stacey Sharples’s actions. Her four-and-a-half-year sentence for falsely accusing ten innocent men of rape has now been increased to seven years after the Attorney General referred it as unduly lenient. Sharples lied repeatedly and deliberately. Men were arrested, detained and subjected to lengthy investigations. Relationships, careers and reputations were destroyed. The consequences will endure long after her sentence ends. I said in March: “Justice should mean parity: a false accuser should face the same punishment their victims would have received had the lie prevailed.” I welcome the Court of Appeal’s recognition that the original sentence failed adequately to reflect the seriousness of these offences. False allegations are not victimless; they destroy innocent lives, squander police resources and undermine genuine victims. They must be treated with the seriousness they deserve. @FACTukorg bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4g5…
