Hoekstra and Trump are the biggest fools of all. Here's Trump's overt endorsement of Mr. Poilievre - an endorsement that Mr. Poilievre rejected. The only interference we need to do in Canada is eject Hoekstra from our sovereign lands. @USAmbCanada
Pete Hoekstra, the U.S. ambassador to Canada, is warning Canadian politicians to stay out of American politics, saying officials are monitoring potential “political interference in the U.S. midterms.” 🔗ctvnews.ca/politics/article/…

🇨🇦 The Shire just got called up. Bloomberg’s Matt Winkler just said it out loud: “Canadians are like hobbits. They’ll save the world for you. They’re consistently underestimated.” Quiet. Underestimated. Stubborn as hell. We don’t want the Ring. We just refuse to let it win. While the big powers scream and break things, the hobbits are still doing the work — integrity, commitment, second breakfast, and all. Middle-earth didn’t need another king. It needed people who still believe the world is worth saving. That’s us! We Are Canadian 🇨🇦 #Canada #CanadianBakin

Mark Carney: "I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Leader of the Opposition on his 20th anniversary of the HOC. We will build Canada strong ... they will have an opportunity to join us, and he will have an opportunity to do something for the first time in two decades."

He totally stole this from Trump
Mark Carney, "In the heart of Germany, above Weimar, there is a wooded ridge called Ettusberg. And for decades, Goethe walked, thought, and wrote there. An oak on that ridge came to bear his name, a living monument to the highest ideals of European culture" "As the 20th century turned dark, that same oak became trapped behind the barbed wire of Buchenwald. A silent witness to humanity's deepest moral failure. Goethe understood that ideals must be fought for, that values do not defend themselves." "Indeed, at the end of Faust, the old man's last vision is of a free people on free ground. Nödvg, Värdjän, Siegfreiheit. Wie das Leben, de taklik si eroban mus" "Freedom and life must be earned every single day" "Every day" "Every day, not once in 1945 or 1956 or 1989. Every day, including this one." My take: 1945, 1956 and 1989 are not distant history lessons: they mark Europe’s liberation from fascism, Hungary’s uprising against Soviet rule, and the fall of the Iron Curtain. Carney’s point is that freedom is never something Europe simply achieved and banked forever - it is a choice, a responsibility and, when necessary, a struggle renewed by every generation.

We all need to wake up to the existence of a new right wing alliance, clearly called for in the US National Security Strategy issued in December 2025, which will include the German AFD, the Rassemblement National in France, Nigel Farage’s party and those even further to the right in the UK. Their political advance will be led, supported, fuelled and financed by Trump, the TechBros, Putin, and whatever other sources can be found around the world. They are actively interfering in the Alberta referendum, and will fund whatever racist and separatist groups they can find around the world. Failure to understand this, and to fight it, will put our own democratic lives at risk.
This is very clear: The AFD supports the Russian slaughter of Ukrainian civilians, and will favor the slaughter and conquest of other Europeans too. No one can say they didn't know, or were not warned.

Honey. Hey honey. We have 15,430 beekeepers in Canada. We export about $60 million of honey a year, $40 million of that to the USA. That honey now has a 50% tariff and our farmers are going to have a tough time selling it. Canada imports a lot of honey, about $73 million of it. Some of it isn’t even real honey (seriously it’s faked with rice and cane syrups eww). Check the labels. As a country we are spending $73 million on imported honey and looking at loosing $40 million in exported honey to the USA. It’s kinda simple math. Buy Canadian honey. Little things from many people will make a difference.

The "Free Ride" Runs on Canadian Energy 1 - Retaliation: Canada applied legal countermeasures authorized under international trade rules in direct response to unilateral US tariffs. Initiating tariffs triggers reciprocal action under standard trade law. 2 - Auto Tariffs: The 25% tariff on US vehicles matches the 25% tariff the US placed on Canadian automotive exports in April 2025. It is an identical reciprocal rate. 3 - Alcohol: Provincial liquor boards restricted American alcohol exclusively in response to unilateral US tariffs. Other countries face zero restrictions because they are not waging an unprovoked trade war against their closest allies. 4 - Dairy: High over-quota dairy tariffs are the foundation of Canada’s supply management system. Donald Trump negotiated, signed, and approved this exact framework in the 2020 USMCA. The rules remain identical to what was agreed upon in his first term. 5 - Trade Deficit: The goods deficit reflects US reliance on Canadian power to fuel domestic industry. Canada supplies roughly 63% of US crude oil imports, 99% of natural gas imports, and 81% of electricity imports. 6 - Gulfstream Certification: Transport Canada follows standard airworthiness protocols. Aircraft certification requires technical cold-weather validation, including fuel icing data. Gulfstream received approval once safety benchmarks were met, under the same criteria applied to Bombardier and European manufacturers. 7 - Supply Chain Impact: North American supply chains are deeply integrated. Auto parts cross the border up to 8 times before final vehicle assembly. Tariffs on intermediate components create a compounding tax on US assembly plants. Federal Reserve research confirms near 100% tariff pass-through to end prices, shifting the cost directly onto American consumers. 8 - Economic Interdependence: US energy refineries, manufacturing lines, and power grids rely daily on Canadian raw materials and electricity. Severing these flows creates acute domestic cost pressure in the US. 9 - Manufacturing Shifts: Tariff uncertainty disrupts investment on both sides of the border, damaging broader North American industrial competitiveness against Asian and European markets. Btw, Canada reached a record $1.6 trillion in total Foreign Direct Investment stock in 2025 and secured the highest FDI inflows per capita in the entire G7 10 - Tariff Schedules: Canada’s $27.6 billion tariff package, including 50% on steel and 25% on fish, applies dollar-for-dollar matching rates to the newest round of US tariffs. 11 - Leverage: Leveraging market size against an integrated economic partner raises domestic production costs. As the Wall Street Journal Editorial Board noted when labeling this escalation "The Dumbest Trade War Revisited," trade barriers between integrated allies penalize domestic workers and raise consumer prices. New: In a phone call with me after U.S.-Canada trade negotiations collapsed, President Trump suggested the US had added conditions late during talks.  “That sounds like me,” Trump responded, when asked about Canadian officials' assertion about US late-stage demands. When I pressed, “So you don't deny it?” The president replied, “No, no, I don't deny anything. So no, they have to pay a fair amount. And if they don't pay a fair amount, we won't make a deal. That's fine.“ More on the broader effects of tariffs here: cnn.com/2026/08/25/business/…

This isn't the first time the USA has placed 50% tariffs on Canada. In 1890, the USA's Tariff Act was touted as a way to build up American industry, but the true goal was forcing the annexation of Canada. It backfired and made Canada stronger. This is the story. 📸 LoC 🧵1/10
