When the NIH director proudly talks about funding aging research you know something has changed
What can GLP-1 drugs teach us about aging? In this video, I share new NIH-funded research showing that semaglutide, a GLP-1 medication, extended lifespan and improved several measures of health in older mice. While more research is needed to understand what these findings could mean for people, the study offers intriguing insights into the biology of aging. Learn more: bit.ly/463JGWt

Big thanks to Dr. Noah Davidsohn for joining us! Key takeaways: • Partial cellular reprogramming (OSK) doubled remaining lifespan in elderly mice • A 10-minute gene therapy infusion can turn liver cells into a decade-long biofactory Full interview: piped.video/PyP3oVfpozk

Thanks to @DavidPerlmutter for joining us to discuss Brain Defenders! Key insights: • Alzheimer’s pivots when microglia shift from protector to destroyer • "Normal" blood sugar (>90 mg/dL) can trigger brain inflammation decades before symptoms appear piped.video/Lqgw63PDOTg

Wonderful to see two great pioneers of biology together. Love both of your work!
If you don’t know Michael Levin’s work, you should. One of the greatest thinkers of our time He studies bioinformation & makes new living things such as Xenobots to understand how cells know what organ to make and when to stop growing 🫀🧠

There is a fake longevity news site full of made-up stories designed to look like it's an academic journal. At least some people in the field are falling for it. A medical doctor posted on LinkedIn that @NirBarzilaiMD had written an article about the positive interim analysis of TAME, which sounded wrong to me since AFAIK TAME isn't funded yet. So I explored the site. There's a bunch of fabricated stores including one on the @DogAgingProject TRIAD clinical trial. Many of the biggest names in the field are listed as co-authors on fabricated "articles". Be careful who you trust. The signal-to-noise problem in longevity is only getting worse. longevity.chia.health/news

We need to stop treating aging and decline as a sacred law of nature and instead see them as an engineering problem. Believe me when I say there are MANY people working on it for everyone's benefit.

People should have access to *all* their health data it’s so infantilising to lock it away and make it hard to access

Love seeing more longevity platforms dedicated to rigorous, evidence-based aging science. Congrats to @davidasinclair on the launch of Lifespan.com. Looking forward to diving into the articles and research updates.
I’m incredibly proud & excited to finally share what we’ve been building for the past 3 years… Lifespan.com is now live 🚀 In a world of conflicting health advice, how can anyone distinguish between what’s supported by science and what’s just opinion? I wanted to build something new. A place where scientists, engineers, industry leaders, and the public come together, where people can understand what the science actually says, and where we move healthcare beyond treating sickness toward extending healthy lifespan well beyond what’s currently possible. Explore the new Lifespan Magazine. Watch the Lifespan show. Ask scientists questions. Join a global community. And help support research and the next generation of scientists working to extend healthy human lifespan. I believe we’re at the beginning of a revolution in our understanding of human aging, and perhaps one day, our ability to change it. I want everyone to be part of it. Built by scientists. Built for you. Lifespan.com Life’s too short. Let’s change that, together! 👊 —— Note: The views of Lifespan & its team are their own & do not represent the views of Harvard, Harvard Medical School, or their affiliates✌️

The median age of an NIH scientist is 71. Nobel-winning work happens in your 20s. 45% of a researcher's time goes to paperwork... While the NIH budget just hit $45 billion with nothing to show for it. I sat down with @mkratsios47 to talk about the White House plan to blow this up: autonomous labs running science 24/7 with no humans, 70 years of federal data being uploaded to AI, and a target that just moved from 2x to 10x scientific productivity. -- The US banned all non-American humanoid robot imports to force a domestic supply chain. -- Supersonic flight: speed limit replaced with noise limit. Decades-old ban lifted. -- American AI Exports Program launched: turnkey US-made AI stacks for the world, government-financed. The counter to China's Belt and Road for intelligence. -- Kratsios on the 10x target: "Even six months ago, Opus wasn't out yet. Anthropic's revenue was sub-$10 billion. The pace of AI innovation is just insane. We've got to aim big."

🧠New NIH-funded research has uncovered an aspect of human brain aging that reshapes our approach to age-related cognitive decline and dementia risk. This knowledge will be critical as we work toward developing earlier detection methods and more effective treatments. Read the full NIH news release ➡️ nih.gov/news-events/news-rel…

Huge thanks to Dr. John Osborne for joining us. My biggest takeaway? Stop guessing your heart disease risk based on ApoB or cholesterol. Direct plaque scanning shows what’s actually happening inside your arteries before symptoms start. piped.video/Kmc5M6wahxw
