I can’t remember being more disappointed by any politician. @andyburnham needs to abolish the House of Lords. It’s a vector for corruption. Because that’s what this is. A pay-to-play capture of a UK lawmaker by Silicon Valley’s worst firm.

Public control of water is totally unacceptable. It must be OWNED BY THE PUBLIC so all profits can be reinvested in fixing infrastructure, & stopping leaks and sewage.

The national grid - A lesser known rip off involving monopolies run against public interest by private companies. Definitely deserving of more scrutiny and public understanding
Another example of a private monopoly failing us - National Grid have been making an average £5 billion a year for the last five years - while failing to invest what’s needed to keep our grid up to scratch - we pay the annual £2 billion cost of that failure, while they pocket £5 billion. And it could be £8 Billion a year by 2030. It’s another outrageous failure of Thatcher’s Dogma - Privatisation. We need to take National Grid under control, not ownership - and force it to do the job we need, not the job its shareholders would prefer.

And it's bloody good advice. I've long suspected that lawyers within Defra have been ill advising ministers with their ultra cautious, ultra conservative approach.
