Nancy Mace is retiring at the end of the year and isn't running for anything, which makes what she says about her own party's war worth hearing.
No authorization for the use of force has passed.
The war powers resolutions that did pass are being ignored.
Only seven Republicans voted for the last one, and she took real heat in her primary for being, she thinks, the first member to say no troops on the ground.
Now the Roosevelt and the Makin Island group are heading in behind the Boxer, due around the end of November, and a kid she met at a football game told her he's deploying to the Middle East.
She says Armed Services gives her a lot of insight, and all she offered was a hope and a prayer that it isn't an escalation.
Her way out is milestones: Iran's frozen $24 billion released only as the toll disappears, the strait returns to pre-war flow and inspectors get in, with any money spent on food and medicine through Oman or Qatar. Tehran wants it all up front on a promise.
On that, Trump is right to refuse.
