There is no immigration category called an “illegal U.S. citizen.” If someone is a U.S. citizen, DHS cannot simply designate that person “illegal” for immigration purposes and deport them. Removal law applies to NONCITIZENS. And when someone's U.S. nationality is disputed in removal proceedings, federal law provides a process for that citizenship claim to be adjudicated. Mullin may simply have misspoken and meant people without lawful immigration status. But he's the Secretary of Homeland Security. That distinction isn't semantic trivia. It's the line between: WHO IS SUBJECT TO IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT and WHO IS AN AMERICAN CITIZEN. The President should quit trying to fire Fed governors to cover up for his economic failures and instead stop his chaotic tariffs and end his war in Iran. Like Trump’s ballroom and his planned 250-foot triumphal arch, the Fed has overspent and underdelivered on its renovations. Today’s report underscores something I have long pushed for: Congress must act to improve transparency and accountability at the Federal Reserve. In the meantime, Chair Warsh should swiftly implement the report’s recommendations.
