I want to clarify something about what I said at yesterday’s Mandaadi success meet event. When I spoke about Suhas and the racist comments he had faced because of his skin colour, I was speaking only about one person and the comments directed at him. My words were never intended to refer to the Telugu people, the Telugu audience, or Telugu cinema as a whole. In fact, at our Hyderabad pre-release event, I openly said that the Telugu film industry is leading the country today, and I have immense respect for the industry and its audience. I would never intentionally say anything against the people who have given so much love to me and to Mandaadi. ❤️ If my words were misunderstood, I sincerely regret that. My respect and affection for Telugu cinema and the Telugu audience remain unchanged. I spoke in support of Suhas and about what was said to him by one person — never about an entire community. ❤️

But it’s the way @MathiMaaran has presented this wafer thin storyline that creates the real magic with the audience. The biggest plus of the film is undoubtedly its casting. Speechless after watching the film #Mandaadi, a daring film making, never before attempted in Indian cinema, may sound exaggerated but that is the truth. Shot in the sea entirely, totally stunning picturization, guts of the actors and technicians to braving the challenges at sea. Starts as a simple sailboat race at sea entwined with human values, love, sacrifices, I can go on. Congratulations to the entire team. மண்டாடி: தமிழ் மரபில் வந்த ஒருவர் தமிழர் வாழ்வியலை எடுத்த ஒரு தமிழ்ப் படம். தம்பி மதிமாறன் புகழேந்தி நீங்கள் வெற்றி பெற்று விட்டீர்கள். அருமையான படம். கதையின் நாயனாகச் சூரி அண்ணன் காளியாகவே வாழ்ந்து உள்ளார். அருமையான இயல்பான நடிப்பு. அதுவும் சண்டைக் காட்சிகளில் அந்த முகத்தில் தெரியும் சினம், சிறப்பு, சிறப்பு. மகிமா நம்பியாரிடம் தன்னுடைய மனதில் உள்ள பாரத்தை இறக்கி வைக்கும் காட்சியும் நெகிழ்வான நடிப்பு. சாட்டை புலியாக சுகாஸ் சிறப்பாக நடித்துள்ளார், அதுவும் அவருடைய பின்னணி குரல் எங்கேயோ கேட்டது போல உள்ளது. :-) சத்யராஜ் ஐயாவின் கதாபாத்திரம் குறைந்த நேரமே வந்தாலும், கனமான பாத்திரம். படத்தின் மிகப் பெரிய பலம் எல்லா கதாபாத்திரங்களும் மிகச் சிறப்பாக, இயல்பாக நடிப்பை வெளிப்படுத்தியுள்ளனர். தம்பி பாலா அவர்களின் நகைச்சுவை அருமையோ அருமை!!! படத்தைத் தனது பின்னணி இசை மூலம் பெரிதும் மெருகேற்றியுள்ளார் தம்பி GV பிரகாஷ்.பின்னணி இசைக்கு இயக்குநர் முக்கியத்துவம் தந்ததும் திரையில் தெளிவாகத் தெரிகின்றது. படத்தின் இன்னொரு மிகப் பெரிய பலம், கதிர் அவர்களின் ஒளிப்பதிவு. மகிமை நம்பியார் அந்த கதாபாத்திரமாகவே மிரட்டியுள்ளார். தயாரிப்பாளர் எல்ரெட் குமார் அவர்களுக்கு வாழ்த்துகள். கடல் சார் மக்களின் வாழ்வியலை இவ்வளவு புதுமையாக யாரும் எடுத்தது இல்லை. திரையில் ஓடும் காட்சிகளைப் பார்க்கும் பொழுது இந்த படம் ஒரு தமிழ் மரபில் வந்தவர் எடுத்த படம் என்ற எண்ணம் ஏனோ வந்து கொண்டே இருந்தது. மண்டாடி முழுக்க முழுக்க தம்பி புகழேந்தியின் படம், அதாவது ஒரு இயக்குநரின் படம். அதுதான் ஒரு இயக்குநருக்கு வெற்றி. வாழ்த்துகள் தம்பி!!!

Just finished watching Mandaadi. Director Mathimaran, cousin and former assistant to filmmaker Vetrimaaran, has delivered an absolute masterpiece. It is genuinely unbelievable how they pulled this film off. No industry other than Tamil cinema could have made something like this. Every actor in every frame is a delight to watch. The characters, the drama built around them, the culture, the people — everything feels incredibly authentic and alive. And the boat-at-sea sequences… the way those scenes were conceived, designed, shot and executed is simply out of this world. The visual language is extraordinary. What makes it even more unbelievable is that this is a debut director. The conviction, the craft, the layering of the story and the sheer control over the material are top-notch. Soori and Suhas were completely shocking and brilliant. 🔥 Hats off to Mathimaran and every single person who worked on this film. 👏🏻 Mandaadi is a MUST WATCH for every film lover — on the big screen. Watched #Mandaadi in IMAX — a terrific big-screen experience. For me, the real heroes of the film are DOP @srkathiir and director @MathiMaaran. Making a film in the middle of the sea is no easy task. The physical, technical and logistical challenges must have been enormous, but they have pulled it off with such confidence that it looks effortless on screen. #Mandaadi - 4/5 Tamil cinema has seen its share of sports dramas, but Mandaadi stands out by exploring boat-racing rarely explored on screen. Easily one of the best films of the year in Tamil cinema by director @MathiMaaran. 👏 @sooriofficial is spot-on as Muthukaali. Given the sheer physical demand of the role, he pushes his limits entirely. Telugu actor #Suhas, playing the antagonist Saattappuli, is a complete revelation. @Mahima_Nambiar is outstanding, gives the film its emotional core through a well-crafted character arc. Mithun Jai Sankar shines as Maari. On the technical front, DOP SR Kathir delivers captivating and immersive visuals, especially during the sea-racing sequences. @gvprakash has outdone himself with a rousing score! The pre-interval action scene is brilliantly choreographed. I was awestruck by the climax race sequence. Mandaadi is a solid sports drama where Soori shines from start to finish. 🔥🔥
