Noah Sanchez was just three years old when he was diagnosed with a form of brain cancer called medulloblastoma and given a 15 percent chance of survival. Thankfully, Noah is now cancer-free and will celebrate his 26th birthday this month. His advice for others is: “Take time for yourself, but don't try to do it all by yourself. Accept help. Feel the feelings. Stay strong and have faith.” 💛 This #ChildhoodCancerAwarenessMonth, help more kids like Noah by donating to fund pediatric cancer research at StandUpToCancer.org/Pediatri….

🧬 #ScienceSaturday Could cancer cells accidentally expose themselves to the immune system while trying to spread? A new study in @NatImmunol reveals a surprising link between metastasis and antitumor immunity. 🔬 Researchers found that as cancer cells move through blood vessels, they can release tiny structures called migrasomes. These #migrasomes carry tumor antigens, essentially pieces of information that can help the #immune system recognize cancer. 🛡️ Antigen-presenting cells can pick up these tumor-derived migrasomes and use them to activate CD8+ T cells, helping generate an immune response against metastatic cancer cells. What makes this especially interesting is the paradox: the process of metastasis itself may create an opportunity for the immune system to detect the cancer. In experimental models, reducing migrasome formation led to more metastasis, while restoring tumor-derived migrasomes helped re-establish immune control. 💡 Why does this matter? #Metastasis is one of the biggest challenges in cancer treatment. Understanding how the immune system recognizes cancer cells as they spread could reveal new ways to strengthen antitumor #immunity, and potentially inspire new therapeutic strategies. It’s another example of how closely #cancer and the immune system are intertwined, even during the very process tumors use to spread. @NatureComms @NatureMedicine @Nature @Tsinghua_Uni @ZJU_China @IHuaXi @SCUCN 📄 Read the study: nature.com/articles/s41590-0…

A small molecule turns an onco-protein into a polymer and thereby triggers its destruction. This striking route to targeted protein degradation is exemplified by BI-3802. It binds transcription factor B cell lymphoma 6 (BCL6) and induces its reversible assembly into filaments. The resulting supramolecular structure promotes ubiquitination by the SIAH1 E3 ligase and proteasomal degradation of BCL6. Cryo-EM revealed how the drug becomes part of the protein–protein interface that drives polymerization. 1/

Thx for the prayers — Turns out cutting out chunks of yer liver is no joke, man. Good news, bad news, and next steps… Good: big liver surgery last week successfully cleared out a bunch o cancer. (Pretty darn great — considering 9 mons ago, when told I had 3-4 months to live, surgery wasn't even an option.) Bad: Tests on the tumors show they were more advanced than we thought — meaning always-mutating tumors have developed some resistance tricks to our former treatment protocol. Bummer but that's life, and was eventually expected. Next: We're gunna change up treatment to carpet-bomb-chemo as much of the rest of the cancer as we can for a bit. Send chemo tips -- do NOT send more Nickelback promotional materials (am painfully aware they’ll be performing at the Hondo Rodeo Fest in Febr). Grateful to God for this extra time — both time w/ fam and time to fight. Can't say enough good things about… - daraxonrasib - MD Anderson’s incredible team of docs, nurses, techs, & researchers - my wife: Melissa rocks. Yikes this is utterly nuts – and I once complained about paying €15 for sourdough fougasse from a master baker in Norway...
I’m convinced New York is a social experiment. New bread store just opened (not a bakery, but a bread store): Rye I went in to grab a loaf, my friend and I took guesses on how much a loaf would cost I guessed $25 She guessed $80 based on the interior of the store $60 for a loaf of bread. There’s no way people with a fully developed frontal cortex are buying $60 loafs of bread
