I don't think the New York Times coverage of gender clinic closures is that bad. What's missing, however, is genuine curiosity about why the hospitals agreed to settle. This was not a decision taken lightly. It's fair to assume that gender clinicians and their allies within these hospitals, especially those located in blue states, face little-to-no opposition from other doctors or administrators. It's also known that hospitals went to the mat to fight closure efforts previously. That's Exhibit A. So, what's changed? Why the seeming capitulation now? Enter Exhibit B: mounting evidence of billing fraud, which comes from 3 sources. (1) Inferentially, from billing of puberty blockers for treatment of central precocious (abnormally early) puberty in 14- and 15-year-olds. (2) From gender clinicians and quasi-medical groups like WPATH, which has openly and explicitly recommended using "endocrine disorder" when billing for medical interventions in minors without an endocrine disorder (although they are likely to develop such a disorder as a result of treatment). (3) From court records in resolved qui tam lawsuits (e.g., in Texas) that show evidence of False Claims Act violations. The combination of these easily verifiable sources, together with the unexpected willingness of blue state hospitals to settle with the DOJ, should trigger curiosity about the leverage the DOJ actually had over NYU, Mt. Sinai, and other hospitals. It seems highly implausible that hospitals in New York, with Letitia James and Mamdani paying close attention, would shutter their clinics and pay out millions of $ unless the DOJ had court-proof evidence of billing fraud. Also, it's September 2026, and the New York Times still hasn't done an investigative report on how major medical associations and scientific journals have promoted misinformation and stifled debate on youth gender medicine.

Elite hospitals spent years pushing the false narrative that pediatric gender medicine was “settled science” and “life-saving care”—puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and even surgeries on children. Both claims were demonstrably false and sat at the center of a social-contagion scandal. Now at least six major hospital systems are paying millions and shutting their youth gender clinics. NYU Langone: $8.5 million and the program closed. Mount Sinai, Texas Children’s, Cleveland Clinic, Connecticut Children’s, and UPMC have already folded. Some agreed to provide free care to former patients who now want to detransition. For those of us who reported on the weak evidence and the ideological capture of WPATH and the major medical associations, these DOJ settlements are one of the Trump administration’s real achievements. They will spare many more children from a pipeline that leaves them as victims of a medical system run amok.

No child understands the whole-life physical and psychological harm caused by rejecting the reality of his/her sexed body. No child should be subjected to this harm.

The Boston Globe has just published a shockingly sober article about the nonexistent genocide supposedly targeting the transgender community. In it, they cite a report I coauthored showing that the murder rate is actually lower for trans-identifying people than the general population. Our report was responding to the HRC's annual reports pushing the narrative that there is an ongoing "Epidemic of Violence" against the transgender community. The reporter says he "offered the Human Rights Campaign's key researcher, the transgender woman Charleigh Flohr, or anyone else with the organization an opportunity to rebut the Manhattan Institute finding, but they didn't reply to me." That's unsurprising because the HRC is engaging in fundraising propaganda. They don't care about the truth, only promoting the narrative. Our report presenting the actual data is irrefutable. The goal of marriage is oneness. When two people are committed to serving one another it leads to a deep friendship categorized by love, respect, and real joy—even in hard seasons. Having been married for almost 16 years, I affirm this message! Marriage is fun!! It makes life half as hard and twice as good. And I’m thankful for it everyday ❤️
