KW co-founder Carole Gould and Nick Gazzard, whose young daughters were both murdered by ex-partners, spoke to the BBC about how the Cirencester stabbing case highlights the importance of improving education and sentencing around domestic violence. bbc.com/news/articles/c6lyr9… Carole, whose 17-year-old daughter Ellie was murdered in 2019, said that the non-custodial sentence the 14-year-old was given was misogynistic and sent completely the wrong message. She stressed how societal change was needed, starting with harder-hitting education in schools – continuing up to the age of 18 – about violence against women and girls. Nick Gazzard, whose 20-year-old daughter Hollie was killed in 2014, and set up the Hollie Gazzard Trust @HollieGazzardT, which teaches groups of young boys in schools about dealing with rejection, was also very disappointed with the sentence.
