My former law partner Stephen T. Gannon (@BankSecLaw) has just released the second edition of his book—Banking on Blockchain. It is the definitive work on the legal and regulatory issues in this area. You can pick up a copy at the American Bar Association online bookstore, americanbar.org/products/inv…

We appreciated @brian_armstrong’s public endorsement of @DeatonforSenate in 2024. Now, we could really use some funding to put @JohnEDeaton1 over the top.👇
Agreed - Massachusetts residents should vote for @JohnEDeaton1 Crypto holders in MA should realize @SenWarren is the one who got Gary Gensler his job and encouraged him to (unlawfully) try and kill the crypto industry in America. Luckily they did not succeed as we and others fought back. She is anti-freedom, thinks the government should run all financial services (similar to China), and has done enormous harm to this country.

When @coinbase faced an existential threat from the SEC, @JohnEDeaton1 stepped up. John filed a brief in support of Coinbase’s position on behalf of 4,701 Coinbase customers. And, just as in the Ripple & LBRY cases, John was PAID NOTHING for those services. When Coinbase (and the whole industry) were in trouble, @JohnEDeaton1 stepped up because that’s who he is—ONCE A MARINE, ALWAYS A MARINE. 🇺🇸 Now John needs our help. The only question is: Will industry leaders like @brian_armstrong step up to support @DeatonforSenate ?

80 year old @SenMarkey believes the federal government is just not spending nearly enough money. He wants to be re-elected to another 6 year term. The good people of Massachusetts will decide on Nov. 3, 2026. @DeatonforSenate
Free higher education. Medicare for All. A Green New Deal. We need to make sure the rich pay their fair share so that we can build a bigger, brighter future for all.

Deaton can win. 70% of MA voters are open to voting for someone new. And only 29% believe 80 year old Ed Markey deserves to be re-elected! That’s astounding! Deaton can shock the world, and restore a commonsense & pro-innovation mindset to the Senate. We need to raise $5 million THIS WEEK to make it happen.

“Crypto voters will remember who stepped up and who didn’t.” Could Not Agree More! Will @brian_armstrong and Fairshake step up and support pro-innovation candidate @JohnEDeaton1 over No on GENIUS, No on CLARITY Ed Markey? We need to raise $5 million THIS WEEK to fund get out the vote efforts. Brian, we need your help. Here is the SuperPAC supporting @DeatonforSenate. 👇 commonwealthprosperityfund.c…
The 2024 election proved the importance of the crypto voter. @standwithcrypto is now much bigger, with over 4M members. Crypto voters will remember who stepped up and who didn't.

Tokenized Stock Trading! Yes, this is a BIG DEAL. The SEC’s new INNOVATION EXEMPTION, permitting trading of tokenized stocks in the U.S., is one of the most significant developments in the history of capital markets. Hard to believe my law firm was working with Overstock and others on stock tokenization a DECADE ago. None of us thought it would take this long to get the SEC’s blessing. And now it’s finally here! Why is this such a big deal? When I started as a lawyer advising the securities industry, the operating standard for stock trading was “T+5.” It literally took 5 DAYS for stock trades to settle. 😂 In my professional lifetime, securities settlement has gone from 5 days to nearly instantaneous with blockchain-based settlement. And the cost to trade has similarly gone from roughly 1% of the trade value to essentially zero. As my father would say—“I never thought I’d see the day.” Tokenized trading and blockchain-based settlement are here to stay. The securities industry will never be the same. Traditional trading venues (like NYSE & NASDAQ) will have to adapt rapidly, or die; as will the brokers who are/were the traditional interface between investors and stock trading venues. But, as with any new technology—A LOT CAN GO WRONG. Let’s just hope the pioneers in this space don’t screw it up for the rest of us. 😎 I wish them all great success.

Here’s my law firm brochure from 2018—Looking Forward to “The Digital Future of Finance”—we called out tokenization, blockchain, smart contracts, AI etc. That future we were all anticipating has finally arrived. And I am amazed.

The Democrats badly overplayed their hand on the CLARITY Act. Now they want a do-over. They don’t understand. The do-over is coming, on November 3, 2026.
🚨NEW: A group of seven Senate Democrats, including @gillibrandny, @MarkWarner, @SenRubenGallego and @Sen_Alsobrooks, say they are “committed to working in a bipartisan fashion” to pass the Clarity Act. The statement comes amid early efforts to restart bipartisan talks and gauge the appetite on both sides for returning to the table and getting the Clarity Act passed before the end of the year, according to three sources familiar with the discussions.

This is hilarious. Yesterday, Democrats kill the CLARITY Act, which would have significantly curtailed payment of stablecoin rewards by crypto exchanges. Today, @Coinbase RAISES its payout on USDC stablecoins. Brilliant. 😂👇
USDC rewards just got even better. Coinbase One members now earn 3.75% APY on USDC.

As expected, both @ChairmanSelig and @SECPaulSAtkins released statements today—full steam ahead on developing crypto regulations. In a few months, I expect the action will return to the Courts, where anti-crypto parties will challenge SEC & CFTC rule-making. It will be an interesting pivot, as parties who previously argued that Gary Gensler had unlimited authority in the crypto space, will soon argue that the CFTC and SEC are exceeding their rule-making authority in the crypto area.

SEC statement 👇
My thanks go to everyone who put so much effort into the CLARITY Act— across the Administration, Congress, investors, and innovators. Our collective conviction that America must continue to lead is indispensable. I have been unequivocal: with or without legislation, we will act decisively within the SEC’s statutory authority to deliver certainty for American investors and for the entrepreneurs shaping our technological future. Stay tuned.
