Very good video.
With diesel hitting £2 a litre, drivers are being hit hard at the pump. Lib Dems are calling for a 10p fuel duty cut, 10% off rail fares and £1 cap on bus fares. Britain needs action on the cost of living, not more warm words from Burnham. @JessBrownFuller

Liberal Democrats have a fully funded plan to slash fuel duty now by 12p a litre at the pump - saving people £6.60 a tank. The Chancellor must act.
Another Trump assault on the cost of living here in the UK and across Europe. Farage and Badenoch cheered on the last ones – I wonder if they still think it’s such a good idea?

The price of diesel and gas going up so much is exactly why we need to shift away from fossil fuels and towards electrification and renewable energy. Scrapping net zero might save us some short term costs, but would make us more vulnerable to these volatile prices.

A Reform government would obviously be a catastrophe for the UK. But that doesn’t mean Burnham’s government should be free from scrutiny by the left. People up and down the country are already struggling and Labour needs to listen hard to their concerns.

Only one significant correction here, the triple lock was a Lib Dem achievement in coalition.
Ex-personal finance writer here. For the past few weeks, we’ve a well-seeded, relentless government spin operation AGAINST the triple lock mechanism. Some of it has involved seeming “leftwing” commentators. In this (long) thread, I’m going to argue FOR the triple lock. 1/

I would like to say that I thought Andy Burnham’s speech was powerful and at times very moving. I didn’t agree with everything he said but I have a lot of respect for the way he spoke so openly.

Good video from Daisy Cooper. I appreciate there is disagreement over the triple lock but I think Lib Dems can be proud of what it’s achieved and have a solid case for saying it has not yet completed its job.

Excellent letter by Ed Davey. I am glad the Lib Dems are opposing scrapping the triple lock. When Gordon Brown was Chancellor, one year the state pension went up by just 75p a week, that’s why it was introduced. There are 1.7 million pensioners living in poverty in the UK.
Burnham is risking a repeat of the Winter Fuel Payment fiasco. Families struggling with a broken social care system cannot wait until after another election, and it can’t be funded from the pockets of our poorest pensioners.

If the triple lock on pensions will be scrapped. The 1st priority is to fix Pension Credit - the top up for the lowest earning pensioners to give them a basic minimum income. Shamefully many 100,000s of the poorest pensions still miss out on what they're entitled to.

I am shocked (not) that Labour are going after pensioners again. I am surprised to see some celebrating it. I work in a lot of older people’s homes and it isn’t uncommon to hear they can’t afford to get their boiler repaired. I worry this will affect too many people too badly.

Here in Southport the Council are planning to close the much loved Botanic Gardens aviary. @SouthportLibDem and all opposition councillors have been united against the closure. It’s heartwarming how the community has come together but disappointing how it has fallen on deaf ears.

Listening to the Chancellors speech, I heard a lot about apprenticeships which I found interesting as I did one (in plumbing) and employ one in my small business. Labour should listen to tradespeople more because so many are saying it’s now too expensive to take on apprentices.

The Chancellor could cut petrol & diesel prices by 12p a litre right now with our plan. But on the day diesel hits a new record? Nothing from John Healey in his speech. I’m really worried the government just doesn’t understand the scale of this crisis.

Brilliant video.
The Chancellor's speech today was high on vibes, low on detail, and completely silent on economic growth.
