BEWARE ⚠️ Head of Major Security Forum Warns Trump Is Planning to Steal Midterm Elections: You know things are bad when the head of a security forum warns that the president may steal the election. Peter Van Praagh, president of the Halifax International Security Forum, warned that Donald Trump is preparing to steal the 2026 midterm elections if Republicans lose badly. Van Praagh founded the Halifax forum in 2009, and Canada's Department of National Defense funds the organization every year. Since Trump returned to the White House, his administration has blocked American military officers from attending the summit, though U.S. senators still show up. Van Praagh said Trump has placed supporters atop the Justice Department, FBI, and Homeland Security, the same agencies whose officials refused to back his 2020 fraud claims, and that these new appointees, in his words, "have denied the true results of the 2020 election and championed his efforts to overturn it." This past summer, federal election monitors from the Justice Department showed up unannounced at local polling sites to question voters and inspect voting machines. Van Praagh said Americans should also worry that Trump may send Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers and National Guard members to polling stations during the midterms. He also pointed to a Washington Post story from February about a 17-page memo circulating inside the White House that advises Trump to declare a national emergency around the midterms and allege foreign interference in the 2020 election. "There's more," Van Praagh said, noting that Trump told NBC News in early 2026 he would only accept the midterm results if he deemed them honest, and that if elections "can't be done honestly," then "something else has to happen." Van Praagh predicted Trump will use his authority to seize federal ballot-counting machines and mail-in ballots if Democrats win the House, and possibly the Senate, in November. He warned that if these efforts succeed, "it will be the end of the United States as we know it." His proposed remedy: he said the surest defense against these threats is for Americans to vote in overwhelming numbers, which he said would make any such plan far harder to pull off.
