⚠️WARNING: GRAPHIC AND UPSETTING FOOTAGE ⚠️ Agam Goldstein-Almog was 17. She says it at the start of the film, because the age is the point. On the morning of October 7 her family was in the safe room at Kibbutz Kfar Aza. Her father, Nadav, and her sister, Yam, were murdered there. She was taken with her mother, Chen, and her brothers, Gal, 11, and Tal, 9, and driven into Gaza in her mother’s car. She describes the trip. Civilians in Gaza banging on the windows. She told her mother they were going to rape her. The men in the car talked about marrying her off. She asked only that the four of them be kept together. They were. A schoolteacher who was also Hamas held them, after a tunnel, in an apartment, dressed as civilians so the street would not see Israelis. Fifty-one days. Released on November 26, 2023, moved from car to car through a crowd she thought was going to lynch them, and home to a house with two of them missing. That is the footage the argument always omits. This isn’t a leaflet. And it isn’t a border dispute. She was a 17-year-old taken from the room where her father and sister had just been killed, with two little boys, into a home in Gaza, by people the marches across London, Paris and New York still call resistance. She’s the one narrating it. The film doesn’t need a caption.
