The most interesting thing about this sculpture is that it was made by inmates at HMP Barlinnie.
In the 1970s, it was hoped that art would help reform the inmates with conceptual artists like Joseph Beuys collaborating with murderers like Jimmy Boyle.
Tear-jerking story about Wallace the Glasgow fire dog that served as a guide to fire engines and their horses back in 1894 to 1902. He was even given rubber boots to protect his wee paws 🐾

The one time I met @Dr_Gavin_Brewis, he had a gift for me - Seán Damer’s Glasgow Going for a Song (1990) - which he thought might be useful for my research.
About two years on, I finally read this compelling “bottom-up” history which is full of vivid details. Highly recommended.
