Also, Elissa Slotkin worked for the CIA - an organization who regularly, admittedly, uses sex and honeypots to trick people into doing all kinds of things against their will so spare me the lecture on human rights and consent you fucking whale.
Why is everyone so hellbent on putting their ignorance on FULL display?
Far be it from me to defend an Ivy League, but Cornell didn’t just say, “hey, write an essay.” They conducted a 12-day hearing. Six of the seven young men were questioned, as were several witnesses. There are apparently 120 pages of transcript just from their interviews with Jane Doe alone.
The result was that two of the 7 were expelled, two were suspended for at least two semesters, and two were found not responsible for sexual misconduct (one had already graduated by this time).
Cornell’s 2024 file on this case is allegedly near 600 pages.
It seems like the university did a lot, and according to them, they sent their entire file over to the Tompkins County DA; the DA denies that.
That discrepancy does need to be investigated. It’s unclear why Jane Doe signed a sworn statement that said no rape occurred if that’s not what she felt happened and if that’s not what she told Cornell police.
That is odd—on all parties, including that university police would help her prepare that statement if their own transcript has her saying she was raped, that she would sign that statement, and that the DA didn’t care to investigate further regardless of what the statement said.
The handling of this back in 2024 should be looked into regardless of whether you personally think an assault occurred (and I don’t), but stop promoting the lie the university just had them write essays.
