To our readers: We did not make this decision lightly. We are deeply committed to the success of the @nytimes. We also know that we produce our best work when we feel valued and are treated equitably. Thank you for standing by us today.

If you see someone's name on a story on Thursday or Friday, it does not necessarily mean they crossed the picket line to write it. Newspapers often have reporters write portions of stories ahead of time when possible.

Start reporting the news and stop with the relentless, biased narrative shaping and maybe more people would care. The NYtimes has been unreadable for at least a decade due to bias and political hackery.

Well who is doing all the transphobia and both-sidesing at the NYT because I don’t have solidarity with those folks.

You haven't done good work since 2001

A perfect way to celebrate Heywood Broun’s birthday yesterday. Brooklyn-born NYC newsman who founded the Guild

The prospect of going without breaking national news coverage for 24 hours is scary and harmful, especially the day after a surprise change in leadership in Peru. This is what happens when employers don't take care of their journalists.

Hope you guys get what you want. But you ought to remember to support other unions in the future

I have a longtime digital subscription to @nytimes but will boycott the paper today in support of your walkout and a fair contract. To stiff NYT's workforce that *produces* the newspaper and makes them their profits while lavishing shareholders w $150M in stock buybacks is gross

Perhaps, if your writers practiced journalism rather than propaganda you might have a bargaining position and the support of the public at large. But no, your writers dug their own pit of despair and willingly flung themself into it. Learn to code, looser.

It’ll be awkward when the NYT discovers business as usual with y’all there or not

Have not touched my daily Spelling Bee today and let friends and family know of your request. Union supporter all the way.

How do readers best support the strike? Is there anything we can do to show our solidarity?

I spend hours per day looking @NYT. Deleted the app this morning without looking at it. Will resume reading when a fair contract is reached.
Just let my momma know; she exited wordle promptly. Solidarity! #UnionStrong
Does standing with you also mean not consuming content from The Athletic? Haven’t been able to get a clear answer on this.
