We commend this school’s decision to apply its uniform policy to all pupils equally.
Parents insisting that abayas be allowed, when doing so undermines uniform standards everyone has to follow, is a demand for special treatment, not genuine inclusion.

Julius was a wonderful colleague, with whom I always loved chatting about everything from hill walking to Wagner. He was warm, endlessly knowledgeable and dryly funny. We will all miss him very much, and wish his family well
We are deeply saddened by the unexpected death of Julius Weinberg on Wednesday, 16 September.
Julius served on the National Secular Society’s Council of Management from 2022, bringing immense experience from medicine, public health, education and public life.
His distinguished career included working for the World Health Organisation in Bosnia, serving as vice-chancellor of Kingston University, chairing Ofsted and acting as deputy chair of Ofqual. He also served as a trustee of several educational institutions and remained committed to lifelong education.
He brought boundless curiosity and energy to everything he did. He was passionate about secularism and freedom of expression, strongly believing that the freedom to speak carries with it a duty to listen.
We will greatly miss his experience, knowledge and good humour. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.
