Went to the Bitcoin meetup at Tailgates in Welland last night. @TronMonGone presented on behalf of 256 | HEAT.
Their whole line is heat reuse for ASICs. Shrouds, ducting, control boards, PDUs with temperature sensors. The miner stops being a loud box in the garage and becomes the thing that heats the room.
Real engineering, built in Ontario, and the kind of thing more people should see before winter.

We are aware of a security incident on @Liquid_BTC. Purported white-hat hackers have withdrawn ~4,000 BTC (~$320 million) from the Liquid Federation wallet. The @Blockstream team is working on contacting them on-chain with a signed message.
What we know so far is that the funds were withdrawn via the SideSwap PAK (Peg-out Authorization Key), but that key was not compromised, nor were any others.
Exchanges have been notified and have already paused (or will pause) LBTC deposits and withdrawals. Other Liquid assets such as USDT, DePix, and RWAs are unaffected by this security incident.
Bridge nodes have been temporarily disabled, so no new transactions can be submitted to the network. Effectively, the Liquid sidechain is paused until this issue is resolved.
Liquid wallets will be impacted, and we're sorry for any inconvenience. Federation members are actively working on resolving this so we can restore normal network activity.

Two severe bitbox security issues!
Update your firmware now.
- boot loader issue allowing you to install malicious firmware
- memory issue on shitcoin edition devices enabling arbitrary code execution
Both can lead to loss of funds after being phished.
We just released the Dixence security update.
During our internal audits, we were able to discover and fix multiple security issues in the BitBox firmware.
We recommend our users to update their BitBoxApp and device firmware through the BitBoxApp settings.

URGENT: Turn off BTCPay Server immediately
Update when able asap
There is a critical vulnerability being actively exploited on BTCPay Server, which can result in the loss of funds.
Please update your BTCPayServer to 2.4.2 by going to Admin Dashboard -> Server -> Maintenance -> Update & verify the 2.4.2 version string in the footer.
If you are unable to update right away, turn off your BTCPay Server to prevent unauthorized access until you can update.

Check on your fellow Meetup members and other Bitcoiners you know
Instead of shitting on NVK and co, please make sure your fellow bitcoiners are OK.
Contact the ones are your local meetup, those you know are physically around you, etc.
They may have lost EVERYTHING, and they need human support, from people who understand.
They won't manage to get help from non-bitcoiners, who just see it as monopoly money, or "was being lucky, now unlucky".
This situation is so fucking sad. Thousands have lost everything.
You might save a life today.

I am not affiliated with their team but will also help anyone who needs it.
Reply here or dm. If you're local to @NiagaraBTC we could even potentially meet in person if needed.
I am making myself available for one on ones to help handhold coldcard users through migrating funds to whatever is available to them. I will first make an explainer video, then start reaching out to those who reply here asking for help. It will be impossible to get on personal calls with everyone, but I will get to as many as I can.
Nathan @theBTCmentor has also been doing this tirelessly. We will call on the rest of our Mentor team to carve out time where they can as well. If you personally believe you'll need a hand after the explainer video let me know. I'll be checking back in as soon as I'm finished and uploaded. It may take a bit of time.
Until then, here are some options:
-move funds to any other hardware you have that isn't a Coldcard
-move funds to a hot wallet temporarily
-use updated coldcard firmware to generate a new key (probably my least favorite option at the moment), but Nathan did make an explainer video on this because it's a few extra steps

Coldcard Mk3 users: if your seed was generated on-device (firmware 4.0.1+, ~2021 onward) without dice rolls or a passphrase, your funds may be at risk. Migrate ASAP.
Multisig users are protected by design: even a fully compromised key can’t move funds on its own. This is exactly the failure mode multisig exists for. No emergency migration needed, just rotate the affected Mk3 key at your convenience.
COLDCARD Mk3 Security Advisory
If you generated a seed on a Mk3 after firmware 4.0.1, your funds may be at risk.
Mk4, Q and Mk5 are not affected based on our early analysis.
