US Army Green Beret and Medal of Honor recipient Major Nicholas Dockery.
On October 2, 2012, then-2nd Lt. Dockery’s platoon and Afghan partners were ambushed by an estimated 150 Taliban fighters in Kapisa Province.
Dockery crossed open ground under fire, rallied his soldiers, shielded a wounded man from a grenade blast, and killed enemy fighters who were dragging an unconscious sergeant away. He then gave lifesaving aid before exposing himself on a rooftop to mark the position for gunships. Every American in the fight was wounded. All of them lived.
That Silver Star was upgraded to the Medal of Honor and presented by President Trump at the White House on June 18, 2026. Dockery later earned a second Silver Star with the 7th Special Forces Group, and was at the time the only Army officer to receive two for gallantry in the post-9/11 era. He also earned two Purple Hearts, the Soldier’s Medal, and recognition as Soldier of the Year.
He retired as a major in May 2026 and has studied at Yale and Wharton’s executive MBA program.
Respect.
