I agree that (outside of maybe India, Israel, and Taiwan - they are major trading partners) the trips are junkets.

It isn't. Federal law doesn't consider fraternity/sorority membership (or non-membership) to be a protected class. It would only be a problem if one decided not to hire members of those groups which are predominantly of one race, or hiring frat bros but not sorority girls
