The genomes we train AI models on do not exist. Most genomic language models read a single haploid sequence, but human genomes are diploid.

In C. elegans we (and others) find evidence of trans-splicing for most genes (but different). See here: nature.com/articles/s41467-0…
Change the textbooks. Trans-splicing as a means to diversify the proteome. Many congrats to Ruaidhri Jackson and Olivia Venezia on this remarkable discovery.

I think that this generation learned that, sadly, this is what the journals want.
Why do the journals want it? because it's expensive (and therefore in correlation with other things).
Unpopular opinion: the age of omics and high throughput data in Biology took us away from very good fundamental questions.
The omics failed to have outsized returns as they were thought to and now we have a generation that’s trained to not think simple.

I realized, longer we work in an area, the more we mistake familiarity with jargons for knowledge.
