I've decided to leave this platform and my Department will too.
A platform originally designed for free speech and expression now favours abuse and misinformation over meaningful debate.
It isn't healthy for our democracy or our communities and I don’t want to support it.
Just dropping in on twitter with a reminder that I post on Bluesky and LinkedIn. Scottish Partnership for Palliative Care and Good Life Good Death Good Grief posts there also, plus Insta and Facebook. Research shows that Twitter algorithms fuel division. 1/2
My personal view is that reputable organisations should be thinking long and hard about their continuing endorsement-through-participation of Twitter. 2/2
This is the crux of it for me. The @RCPhysicians, @rcpsych and @GeriSoc have all said they can’t support this Bill. They have also said it does not adequately protect vulnerable people.
What do these Peers (and the 314 MPs who voted aye) know that these institutions don’t?
I can’t think of a single Royal College that supports the Bill as written.
Will peers calling for @UKHouseofLords to rush through approval of the Bill just dwell on that fact for one minute and listen to themselves?
Palliative care is not about the end of life. It is about the value of life itself.
Together with governments, communities, and health workers, @WHO supports countries to integrate palliative care into primary health care, expand training and ensure access to pain relief and other essential medicines. #HealthForAll
Dear British institutions still on Twitter, Did you listen to Elon Musk in London this weekend -standing alongside hate mongers, inciting violence & undermining democratic processes? Are you planning on staying on twitter? What exactly is the line you are waiting to be crossed?

Really pleased with the (very nearly complete) line up for SPPC's forthcoming conference. The programme will be out in the next day or so but you can get a sneak preview of the theme, speakers and sessions here. ANd booking link of course! palliativecarescotland.org.u…
Politicians continually pay lip service to how wonderful and important palliative care is while inaction leads to patient and family distress on a daily basis.
If you want more hospital type care in the community you also need more quality palliative care
🚨Calling UK health and care practitioners!
Please help us shape the work of the new Impact Centre for palliative and end-of-life care.
Survey takes 15 mins to complete.
We especially want to hear from people from Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland 🙏
Probably the best guideline I’ve seen yet the on management of nausea and vomiting in palliative care. Well done @annasutherlan15 and team. Flow diagrams are particularly helpful!
