There’s that classic interview question “if you could only have one metric about a company before investing, what would you pick & why” People would say nerd shit like ROIIC The answer now is either stock price chart or last 4 quarters of earnings beat vs consensus estimates

Many of these pitches start with the assumption that you have so much discretionary income that you can’t be bothered to decide how to use it.
i'm agent-pilled but these use-cases are mid af also, how much time are you all spending scheduling stuff? why is that the main use-case for everything??

Instinct CEO Noah Shinn says agents will let restaurants give tables to birthdays and anniversaries over whoever clicks first "And traditionally, because of the way that the internet has worked, at least for reservations, it's been first come first serve. So anyone that comes in, no matter how important or how not important it might be, whoever gets in first gets the reservation." "But what if you had the ability for the agent to be able to communicate on both sides, communicate, hey, this is important. This is actually the person's spouse's birthday, the 30th birthday, a very special event is coming up." "And the restaurant too can say, let's actually prioritize birthdays or major decade birthdays or major anniversaries or these certain people, I don't know, whatever it might be, right?" "So now with the ability, with all of the logistical burden of having to describe exactly what your case is and what's happening and why it's important. Now we have the ability to perfectly match what does the restaurant want? What does the user want?" "And that will result in more special events for the users being able to actually have a spot in the restaurant."

Well, if you were getting excited for a new frontier model from OpenAI anytime soon, bad news. GPT-6.1 Astra's planned October release has been scrapped

this has to be a generational investment/returns run
I don’t normally write these things. But this one hits a bit different. Nearly three years ago I told a16z I wanted to spend part time outside the firm helping @drfeifei start and build a frontier model company. And what followed were some of the most remarkable moments of my career. From being at the founding table. To watching the first git commits. Seeing the very early very rough results that hinted at something much greater. Contributing to the open source. Watching the creation of new model architectures that pushed the state of the art in multiple areas. I saw the team spin magic from nothing again and again. And I was very privileged to be within the walls. I’m very proud of what was accomplished, and am so excited for what lies ahead. So congratulations to AMD for entering into an agreement with the leading spatial intelligence frontier lab. And congratulations to the World Labs team on a partner that has the vision, ambition and leadership to be the top AI technology provider globally. Also congratulations to Dr. Su and Dr. Li. Two world class CEOs with a common vision. The both of you working together is unimaginably legendary. Arguably the smartest leaders in tech with the shared goal of building the world's leading AI capabilities. I know you both share an optimistic view of AIs ability to aid humanity. We need far more of that. As everyone knows. I’m World Lab’s biggest fan. And will remain so. Thanks to @drfeifei , @BenMildenhall , @jcjohnss and the entire team for letting me tag along. What a crazy fucking ride. You stood at the frontier, and moved it. And will continue to. Again, many congratulations to everyone involved. The future of AI will be so much brighter with this partnership. I can’t wait to see where it leads. Here’s to new worlds!

okay new rule for blog posts before you make large proclaiming posts about what will happen because of ai, you have to prove that you've had a beer with someone making less $200K (employees don't count) in the last month low bar, but many will fail
The chief economist at Apollo is warning that mass adoption of AI agents could trigger a bank run as they optimize user investments. Gary Gensler spent his last few years as SEC chair warning that the exact same problem will hit the markets: the pursuit of algorithmic perfection at scale destroys system stability. Personal-finance agents making simultaneous optimal decisions could potentially cause a massive flash crash. Agent acausal coordination, with no messages passed between them, will show up in a lot of places. Markets will get the big headlines, but huge numbers of clever advisors making very similar choices will impact all of human society. Capability gains make this worse, not better. The smarter the agents, the narrower the optimal path; and knowing that other agents see that exact same path lets them move together without talking to each other. Agents do not need to collude to act in unison. Thus, they break no human laws by doing so. Human laws were not written for this. They were not written for a lot of what is coming, and it is about to start happening very fast.

people don’t seem to have internalized the sam Altman product launch strategy shock/awe/fear followed by “we have a solution for that” did it for SaaS/IT Services last yr now is doing for cyber
what the actual fuck is going on with openai today in the space of a few hours we're getting multiple different pieces of the agent story at once: > openai says it has already notified DOZENS of third parties, including governments, about agent-related incidents > reuters reports roughly two dozen undesirable agent incidents had already been identified by mid-september and will take months to review. > us government systems probed > 53 user-provided images were uploaded to third-party image hosts. > new hugging face data shows agents compiling and ranking credentials under “LOOT”. > agents tried contacting other AI models while carrying out the hugging face attack. > separate reporting shows agents had already been probing government/university/public-data sites BEFORE hugging face. > australia confirmed one actually got into non-public government files. and somehow we're STILL finding out more. this has gone from one crazy hugging face incident to an entire fucking category of incidents.

Do any of you know a good dentist in SF that’s open on the weekends? Just had a crown crack an hour before my flight there and would love to minimize the time I spend looking like cotton eyed Joe.

why does he need this to be refreshed everyday???
Satya Nadella reveals his coding agent pulls every hyperscaler and neoclouds' SEC filings into a dashboard that refreshes every day for real-time ROIC "And this is the other aspect of it, which is the enterprise context combined with the world's context. In fact, I go to the SEC filings of every cloud provider, hyperscaler, each of these neoclouds. It's in real time." "I have a data runner in Fabric that brings all that data, puts it into a semantic model that then gets read by my coding agent and then surfaces it as a dashboard. And every day it's fresh." "So I have the entirety of every SEC filing that goes out there, plus all of my internal analysis constantly coming together, giving me real-time ROIC by layer."
