Just watched an obese ~45 y/o man tell his petite Slavic rent-a-date that he only uses Flintstones toothpaste because he’s “sending plaque and tartar back to the Stone Age.” Rent-a-Date simply didn’t know what to do with this information and they sat in complete silence for a solid minute afterward. Not entirely sure what I just witnessed, had all the characteristics of a dream. Third or fourth most deeply surreal moment of my life.

Casually talking about destroying the most interesting natural history experiment in the solar system so a bunch of incels can go die of cancer there in a few decades time.
I recently had a conversation with a NASA JPL engineer that was bemoaning the fact that the internal “Planetary Protection” department at NASA threw up substantial roadblocks for Mars missions in the name of protecting the pristine Martian environment. They will surely be apoplectic about this.
I kind of think we should just get it over with and empty a septic tank on mars so nobody can imagine it needs dedicated protection. Project Vandalize Mars.

In Houston at the Off World conference today, NASA’s Jared Isaacman said there would be an “Artemis acceleration” event to discuss plans to bring forward the Artemis IV lunar landing in “early October.”

This might be a strange idea to most people but we are actually going to start sending people to Mars and terraforming it over the next 15 years. People I talk to at SpaceX are serious about it and many companies are maturing other necessary technologies. Feeling incredibly lucky to be alive this century
