🚨 GOOD MORNING BRITAIN: A 92 YEAR OLD PENSIONER WITH DEMENTIA WAS TASERED OVER A BUTTER KNIFE I hope every single citizen in this country reads this story today and confronts what British policing has truly become. Donald Burgess was a 92 year old amputee suffering from severe dementia, sitting completely unmoving in his wheelchair inside an East Sussex care home. When he became agitated during a meal and held onto a dull butter knife, two police officers arrived and instantly escalated the situation into pure terror. An inquest has heard that PC Stephen Smith and PC Rachel Comotto screamed at the elderly man, struck his arm with a metal baton, and emptied a full can of pepper spray directly into his face. PC Comotto then fired a high voltage taser into the disabled pensioner's chest as he wept in agony and cried out that he was dying. The 92 year old was handcuffed, dragged to a police station, rushed to hospital in medical distress, and died shortly afterwards from cardiac complications and trauma. Medical testimony now confirms that the extreme physiological stress inflicted by those officers directly contributed to his death. Yet both officers walked away cleared of assault charges, while Sussex Police dismissed the horrific timing of his death as a mere coincidence. I watch British police officers dance at street carnivals, take the knee, and hand out cautions to violent gang members on our high streets. Yet when confronted with a helpless, vulnerable pensioner trapped in a wheelchair, they deploy batons, chemical spray, and tasers with zero mercy. I demand full public accountability for everyone involved, the immediate dismissal of those officers, and an end to a coward culture that abuses the vulnerable while running from real criminals. STATEMENT about my local resident Del Somerville who pled guilty to violent disorder at a local protest. Firstly I want to say I condemn any violent behaviour towards anyone. It’s never acceptable and never the answer. Del from Paulsgrove in Portsmouth, where I’m the elected Cllr for, has just received a 2 year prison sentence. To be clear he plead guilty. The report states he ‘pushed through a police corden’, and he ‘swore’ and he ‘threw a plastic bottle into the air towards a police line’. Now if you break the law that should have consequences but this is where I have the problem… In handing down the two-year sentence, the judge explicitly stated that the punishment was intended to act as a stark deterrent to others participating in subsequent regional protests. I’m sorry but the law should be applied evenly and fairly. Del being made example of means his sentence is disproportionately worse in comparison to what others would have received in a comparable situation, outside of a protest. That is wrong. We’ve seen violent assault convictions handed out with suspended prison sentences but then this one gets 2 years and is rushed through a process that took a few weeks. We shouldn’t be ‘setting examples to deter others’. We should be applying the law fairly. This is a reminder that if you are attending any protest to always remain calm a peaceful. One slightly poor emotional response can change your life forever. This system isn’t fair and it needs to be. One rule for one, one rule for another. It’s wrong.
