The populist right wins elections. It’s been the center left establishment parties that have been the most authoritarian, the most subversive of democratic norms, and have attempted the most aggressive forms of censorship. France, the Yookay, Germany, Canada, the US: neoliberal establishment parties in all these countries have tried to censor, anathematize, and even criminalize normal discourse across a range of legitimate political issues. Instead of compromising and making policy changes to head the populists off the establishment has chosen to compensate for worsening delegitimization and unpopularity by coercion, subverting liberal norms, and placing a thumb on the scale using state power.

Nightmare Vision makes a good point that international leftism believes the world is experiencing a rise in Fascism while the hard Right has to democratically win a dozen elections and engages in Democracy more than their opponents do

No, AI is not a neural network, for those are made of neurons and there are no neurons in data centers. The statistical probability calculations that AI uses to generate content--all borrowed from human created content--is absolutely nothing like what the human brain does when it thinks. Claiming that it's a "neural network" is another clever bit of propaganda.

Aaron, it's not at algorithm. It is a neural network, trained, and we can't predict what it will output.

NYC Subway is one of the only systems in the world to have 2 people operating the train, because the union insists on it. It’s obviously cynical featherbedding, but they swear up and down the 2nd position is necessary for passenger safety, particularly for scenarios like this. The least they can do is ensure deaths like this are 0, but they’d rather play on their phones. All the more reason to eliminate the conductor position.
A man died on Monday evening when his backpack got caught in the closing doors of a Brooklyn subway car, leading him to get dragged to his death during rush hour, according to the NYPD. gothamist.visitlink.me/GKRxJ…

All these families separation stories designed to make you feel sorry for immigrants should repulse you for a totally different reason. Trying to imagine my wife telling our kids, “sorry, I got let in somewhere better, but you aren’t allowed to come, so we’re going to have to be separated.” Every single parent in one of these stories is a monster. There should be like a million quotes from every single one of these parents saying, “obviously I will go to wherever my kid goes.”

And its always the most obvious no brainer shit in the world like. "Tom walked up to Sarah's desk, smacked her ass, and said "God DAMN you fat as fuck, have sex with me right NOW or else you're not getting that promotion BITCH" Is this an example of sexual harassment?

There is no "burning it down." Establishment Republicans want to lose the midterms. Then they can push for "bipartisan" amnesty. Sometimes I wonder how old some of you people are. Talking like children.

Translation: our gross margins are getting competed down to 0 by open source models and our capex burn rate is too high. Let’s maintain our margins with regulatory capture, ban open source models, and slow down the capex arms race. All with a virtue signaling cherry on top.
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so. Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training. Not really. Those of us who grew up before 9/11 remember what our country was like before our government responded to it by launching two of the dumbest wars in our history and then using the results of those wars to flood the West with the very kind of demonic inbred retards behind 9/11. You can’t understand the rage we feel because you have no concept of what we lost as a people. It wasn’t just the violence of that day, which was horrific in itself. It wasn’t just watching people hurl themselves off of buildings on live television just to avoid being burned alive. It wasn’t just hearing the phone calls and voicemails from people who knew they would be dead within minutes. That would be more than enough to scar a generation. But on top of that, we had to watch the best of us then get sent off to be blown up in wars our government had zero interest in winning. All while watching our country be flooded with people who were no different than the hijackers, and then being told we were racist for having a problem with that. We grew up at the peak of peace and prosperity and cultural cohesion in the greatest country on earth. And we saw all of it thrown away after 9/11 because the people in charge of our country thought never-ending wars, infinity immigration, and surveillance of its own people was better than being called mean by people who already wanted us dead.
People born pre-9/11 have such a weird, worshipful attitude about it.

It’s inescapable that absent intensive, rapid assimilation, ‘multi-culturalism’ will devolve into a zero sum game of competing ethno narcissisms and perservations, especially when bottomlessly entitled elites like Mehdi Hasan are involved. It’s just sort of amazing that *very smart* libs like Noah Smith haven’t gamed out any strategy to deal with these conflicts. There have been no tabletop exercises by libs for what to do, and so Smith and other progressives are left sputtering with only right wing framing as recourse. Very funny. If libs like Smith are so brilliant they should have been prepared for this exact sort of problem but I guess they believed thinking it though was something only Bad People do.
You can tell centrist libs are getting sick of leftists. That doesn’t make them “based,” of course, nor does it mean they’re on our side. But it does spell trouble for the Democrat’s coalition going forward, at least in its upper echelons.

The first sustained negative migration in 100 years, and picking up speed. The midterms is your chance to either press the accelerator or to let the Democrats smash the brake. You still control your destiny. Never blackpill.
🚨NEW: Census Bureau Survey Shows Foreign-Born Population Down 2.9 Million Over Last 18 Months: "The total foreign-born population declined 2.9 million from January 2025 to July 2026... The huge recent decline in the foreign-born population indicates that net migration to the United States was negative in the last year and a half for the first time since the 1930s." If the Trump Administration’s immigration crackdown continues at its current pace, the United States will see a reduction of approximately 15.3 million in its foreign-born population by the end of President Trump’s second term in January 2029 -- the lowest national foreign-born population since 2010. But also, importantly, a single person dissenting can be catastrophic for progressive confidence and morale. Progressive ‘consensus’ is tautological and socially derived and its authority rests on unanimity rather than evidence, methodological rigor, procedural standards, etc. So, for an ‘effective’ argument to be made, any dissenting voice that shifts authority from consensus to an evidentiary rationale represents a dire threat and must be squashed.
What happened to the lone holdout juror in Lindsay Clancy’s trial is exactly what happens to dissenters in any progressive circle. The group makes decisions based on feelings or “empathy.” And the person who recognizes reality is shamed and accused of “bias” for refusing to fold.

The reason people hate flock cameras is that they know the government will not use them to lock up the insane depraved criminals who will stab you while you walk through Times Square but will instead mail you a ticket for speeding on an empty highway at 2AM.

I am radically pro law and order, I worked as a crime reporter and interviewed the families of officers killed in the line by stupid regulations and restrictions I think we should reintroduce corporal punishment, widely expand the death penalty, expedite executions etc I am not some bleeding heart civil libertarian, most of them see me as an authoritarian But it is BECAUSE of my direct experience with law enforcement that I know Flock does not solve the core issues they face I have had this conversations with officers a thousand times, they all know who commits crime and where but the they are restricted from arresting, charging, and punishing criminals because of the demographic realties this reveals Flock is not for the criminals that police are already not allowed to arrest due to civil rights activists Flock is for you

I don’t understand how it’s possible to have experienced the last 15 years and hold to this position. The point is that if you don’t offer people a good explanation for achievement caps, then they will fill that vacuum with all kinds of claims about racism and discrimination.
Okay, so what is the purpose of this incessant race realist discourse? Of course there are population-level differences. Anyone who works with psychometric data knows that. The variance reflects some combination of genetics and environment. None of this is suppressed or hidden. We already know this. What’s wholly unproductive is making this a public discourse. Theres a reason you encounter almost no psychologists engaging with it in public. For those of us with an educational psych background, it’s especially disturbing because group averages tell you remarkably little about the abilities or potential of the person sitting in front of you, and encouraging young people to understand their intelligence through racial stereotypes can itself interfere with performance, confidence and learning. There’s literally no benefit to this discussion. So what exactly do people like Nathan want?
