Be honest, who is actually dropping $2,000 on a phone that loses Face ID and has a crease down the middle, unless the entire goal is just showing people at dinner that you have money to waste?
Apple is about to charge you $2,000+ for a foldable phone that Android perfected half a decade ago.
Prediction markets are giving it a 59% chance that the first foldable iPhone actually drops at this month's event. But before anyone reaches for their wallet, look at what you're actually paying for:
At an estimated $2,000 to $2,500, you are paying MacBook Pro money just to be an unpaid beta tester for Apple's very first hinge mechanism.
To make it thin, reports suggest Apple had to strip out Face ID and the periscope zoom lens. You are paying double the price of an iPhone Pro just to get demoted to Touch ID and a basic dual-camera setup.
The internet will act like bending glass is alien technology, completely ignoring that Samsung and OnePlus have been shipping reliable foldables since 2019 without gutting core flagship features.
Unless you desperately need to flex a folding Apple logo, keep your money in your pocket.
