June 29, in an official press release with your name across the top: "The Supreme Court just upheld this bedrock American principle." June 30: "The Supreme Court confirmed today that those born in America are American." And September 15. Ten days ago. You could still have the leftovers in your fridge: "The Supreme Court had no choice but to make the right decision." Upheld. Confirmed. Bedrock. Had no choice. Same nine justices. Same marble building. Same black robes. The only thing that changed between September 15 and today is whether YOU got what you wanted. And then there's my favorite. Same day, September 15, on the Senate floor: "Even Trump's MAGA Supreme Court shut down his unconstitutional plan." Read that one more time. Slowly. I'll wait. I teach high school, so silence doesn't bother me. The MAGA Court... ruled against MAGA... and you praised it... while calling it MAGA. Chuck, that isn't a court. That's a Schrödinger's cat with a gavel. It's MAGA and not MAGA at the same time, and it stays that way until you open the box and check whether you won. I have four kids. When I hand out candy, I'm the greatest dad who ever lived. When I enforce bedtime, my three-year-old throws himself on the carpet and screams that I'm the worst person in the whole world. Same dad. The National Voter Registration Act, a Democrat-passed law, signed by Bill Clinton in 1993, bars states from systematically removing voters in the 90 days before a federal election. Election Day is November 3. Count backward ninety days. That door slammed shut in early AUGUST. Seven weeks ago. Even the AP, which nobody will ever accuse of being a MAGA outlet, reported that the effect on the midterms is likely limited. Forty-five years in Congress and you either don't know about a 1993 voting law your own party passed, or you know and you posted this anyway to scare people. I honestly don't know which one is worse. The first one means the elevator doesn't go all the way to the top floor. The second one means you're scaring grandmas for clicks. "Elon Musk's DOGE-overhauled SAVE database." Oh good, Elon. It's always Elon. If your Wi-Fi went out tomorrow, it would be Elon. Chuck, the SAVE program has existed since 1987. When it started, Elon was sixteen years old and living in South Africa. Travis County, Texas checked 97 flags and found somewhere between 10 and 21 percent were actually citizens. That matters. That's a real person getting a letter they shouldn't have gotten. But a FLAG is not a PURGE, Chuck. A flag means a human being looks at it. The voter gets a notice. They show proof. And naturalized citizens have proof. It's called a naturalization certificate, and I promise you most of them keep it somewhere safer than their car title, because they EARNED it. They studied. They took the test. They raised their right hand and swore the oath. Nobody is prouder to prove they're an American than someone who had to earn it. And if something STILL goes wrong on Election Day, federal law already hands them a provisional ballot. Now let me tell you about the voters YOU never tweet about. Iowa ran SAVE and confirmed 277 non-citizens registered to vote. Thirty-five of them had ballots COUNTED in 2024. Georgia used it to block 1,634 attempted registrations in 2022. Every one of those illegal ballots canceled out a real citizen's vote. Maybe a nurse. Maybe a factory worker. Maybe a guy like me who spent twenty-three years in uniform so people could vote in the first place. Where's their press release, Chuck? Where's THEIR bedrock American principle? Oh, and one tiny detail you forgot to mention. States' use of SAVE is VOLUNTARY. New York never has to touch it. You're pulling the fire alarm over an OPTIONAL fire extinguisher sitting in someone else's building. Then there's the document in the post you quoted. Did you look at it? I did. "Attempts to cheat." Senator, you are the Democratic Leader of the United States Senate. Millions of people hang on your words. And some of those people are not well. When the most powerful Democrat in the Senate tells an entire country that the President is cheating and rigging an election, SOMEBODY out there hears a mission instead of a tweet. I was a combat medic in Iraq. I was a paramedic here at home. I have seen what bullets do to a human body, and I know exactly how short the road is between "they're stealing your country" and a man with a gun who thinks he's a hero. And you know it too. Because you've already done it. March 4, 2020. You stood on the steps of this same Court and said, "I want to tell you, Gorsuch. I want to tell you, Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won't know what hit you." The Chief Justice of the United States had to publicly rebuke you. Two years later, a man with a gun was arrested near Justice Kavanaugh's home. You never got the whirlwind, Chuck. Somebody else almost did. What's next? The Senate Democratic Leader calls the Supreme Court a rigged MAGA institution one week after praising it on the Senate floor for its bedrock American principles... oh wait. That's today. That's this post. I keep trying to make up something too ridiculous to be true, and you keep doing it before I finish typing. Quinn's Law #2 says if you want to know what they're up to, watch what they accuse you of. You scream "cheating" at a citizenship check while 277 non-citizens sat on the rolls in Iowa alone.
