The state decided it was more important to have youth "let off steam" and riot...than protect institutions.
So the taxpayers have to pay for a new facility...the working people have to work harder, students who wanted to learn will lose out...
But the violent students, the most privileged, who the elites tend to side with, get what they want>
Imagine a country where those in charge and the elites valued those who work and pay taxes and are peaceful? Imagine valuing them, rather than valuing the mob?
It's a choice to see the mob and see the peaceful people at home...and basically tell police and security forces, "let them riot for a few days, let off steam, don't arrest anyone." Every democracy gets to this crossroads.
Sometimes the silent majority wakes up and decides at the ballot box they have had enough.
