🚨 NEW - Teenage girls in Dorset were introduced to non-binary identities during a Girlguiding session called ‘Binary Breakdown’ this week. An activity sheet with the same name, produced in conjunction with LGBT rights charity Stonewall, tells girls that some people do not identify as male or female and may feel they are “somewhere in between” or “neither”. One father withdrew his teenage daughter from the session, saying he hadn't signed her up to Girlguiding to be taught about gender identities. My latest for The Telegraph. ILACS: Inspections of Local Authority Children’s Services – is the framework used to inspect children’s services provided by local authorities. SCCIF: Social Care Common Inspection Framework – is used to inspect and regulate individual children’s social-care providers, including children’s homes, independent fostering agencies, supported accommodation, residential special schools and a range of other regulated settings.

Ofsted’s proposed ~4-year ILACS cycle only works if safeguarding intelligence between inspections can spot deterioration early. Agree...keeping boys out of girls’ sport isn’t bigotry, it’s the Equality Act working as it should. The Equality and Human Rights Commission draft still frames too many ordinary sex-based rules as suspect. Parents keep raising the same worry with us, schools changing names, pronouns & facitities without us. Credit where it’s due: the Equality and Human Rights Commission draft says sex means biological sex, and single-sex sleeping accommodation is required. Keep that. The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is consulting on new technical guidance for schools in England, Scotland and Wales about how the Equality Act 2010 applies. The deadline for responses is 11:59pm on Wednesday 30th September. Schools must be able to protect pupils on the basis of biological sex where sex-based provision is lawful, justified and necessary to protect privacy, dignity, safeguarding and the proper functioning of education.
