Seventeen years later, Bitcoin has apparently failed because it became a boring store of value. Read that sentence again. There are fair criticisms of Bitcoin. The UX can still be awful. Self custody can be intimidating. Entropy is a new word that we all know now thanks to Coldcard. But dismissing criticism from a billionaire tech bro because you don’t like the messenger is lazy. Maybe he’s right. So let’s take the argument seriously. So.. dead cat bounce he says.. bring it. Price action isn’t some slam dunk on Bitcoin’s monetary properties. The price can fall without changing the supply cap, without changing its permissionless settlement, or your ability to hold the asset without an intermediary. Pretty useful, regardless of dollar denominated value. And “boring store of value” is supposed to be the gotcha.. cool story. A monetary asset becoming boring and treated as something worth holding is not the own you think it is. It’s about the least embarrassing feature actually. Yeah institutions changed the ethos. We HATE THAT. Us punks got Bloomberg. Some of the Saylor memes should probably be prosecuted. None of that changed the protocol. The CD/DVD analogy is not even clever, it has a hole big enough to drive a cyber truck through. Spotify replaced CDs by doing the same job better. Netflix did the same to DVDs. So show me Bitcoin’s Spotify. Don’t say XRP. It’ll make us lol. Show me the replacement that gives you scarce digital property, bearer ownership, global settlement, no issuer, and no one who can decide on Monday morning that there should suddenly be twice as much of it. Maybe that replacement eventually exists. Nothing gets a permanent crown. That title needs to be earned and defended, constantly. No one knows that better than the Bip-110 crowd. Speaking of … goes to show we’re not all orange koolaid sipping koombaja singing cultist afterall. Yes there will be disagreements. Yes things can get ugly. This is a feature, not a bug. But you can’t call something the CD before anyone has invented Spotify. And calling Bitcoin boring…. For money, boring might be the nicest thing anyone’s said about it. P.S. People keep vinyl for the memories. People are keeping this for their grandkids.
The dead cat continues to bounce. What is Bitcoin, 17 years later? It’s not great for transactions or smart contracts; the user experience is still intimidating for most, and it’s no longer capturing the public’s imagination. If it comes up at the dinner party, it's followed by a hearty “remember that!” It’s a boring store of value, trusted as that—which is its biggest value. It's boring. Folks expect bitcoin to be stable and that it’s no longer a way to get rich quick. Institutions embracing and accumulating it took $btc from punk rock to Muzak. Advocates went from pirates to suits in orange ties, awkwardly sharing cringe memes — just like the cool kids do! If Bitcoin were going to reach mass adoption and an important use case, it does better than anyone else, it would have by now. Bitcoin feels like the CD in the age of Spotify, the DVD in the age of Netflix — a bridge technology that folks who invested in “their collection” keep saying is the better experience. Perhaps bitcoin is vinyl, cool memories and fun to drag out and put on display, but a technology that served us to get to where we are now.

The fact that Lawrence Lepard came out of this elitist cesspool the man he is says a lot We’re lucky to have that dude on our side
after a painstaking 48+ hours, i finally collected 100 interviews from Harvard students about Bitcoin About 2/10 owned some Not a *single* one could explain what the purpose of it was (besides the price going up) am i crazy to think that is… odd?

George finally joined the Boomers. Then immediately left to go elk hunting. Bitcoin decoupled from the Nasdaq. Nobody noticed. Half the miners are underwater. Bob has the receipts. Bessent needs a bigger boat. And to everyone still waiting for 40k, Larry has two words. new bitcoin boomers ep

Bob called BIP110 “a cluster.” George said when you lose a battle, you don’t go home like a crybaby. Then came the awkward question: how does bitcoin actually agree when it needs to change? Very decentralized. Very unresolved. New episode out now

Bitcoin lore is so stupid lmao April 5, 1933: FDR orders Americans to hand over their gold. 1975: Americans can legally own gold again. Satoshi needs a birthday for his online forum profile. He chooses: April 5, 1975. lol. Then he launches Bitcoin. The first block embeds that day’s newspaper headline: “Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks” So a timestamp (proving no pre-mine) and a shot at the monetary system. Then you get to the 21 million cap. Except there isn’t. It’s actually 20,999,999.9769. Ok close enough. It’s 50 BTC per block. Every 210,000 blocks, cut it in half. 50 - 25 - 12.5 - 6.25 - 3.125 and so on. Keep doing that until the computer literally rounds the subsidy down to zero. That’s the monetary policy. No committee. Just math. Every 2,016 blocks Bitcoin also checks how fast miners have been finding blocks and recalibrates the difficulty toward its 10 min target. Nobody runs that either. game theory is baked in. miners compete for rewards, difficulty automatically adjusts to their combined hashpower. In English: more miners show up, Bitcoin makes the winning hash harder to find, basically adding even more leading zeros. No founder allocation. No company. No CEO. Satoshi built it, handed it to the world, disappeared. Anyway, the dollar is melting.

As some of you may be aware, we will likely be importing more cheap foreign beef in order to cut the cost at the grocery store for the consumers-this is likely a midterm election strategy as people don’t vote for incumbents when food is too expensive The down stream effect of this is that it will likely cause many American ranchers to go out of business unless additional help is sent their way In the mean time, if you can afford to do so, please buy directly from ranchers if you can-it might be the difference between them going out of business or surviving to keep on doing what they do the best in the world, producing high quality beef! Share this if you’d be so kind!

Bitcoin boomers woke up and chose violence. 😂
Coldcard had ONE job. and they [BLEEPED] it up💀 People lost bitcoin. George was scrambling at 5AM. Larry started rethinking where he keeps his stack. And that was BEFORE the Boomers got to BIP110. Keys got cooked. Feelings got hurt. Old men yelled. Bitcoin survived. New Bitcoin Boomers is LIVE.

everything that used to give people some sense of meaning has been swapped for cheap dopamine. consumption, consumption, pushed by a ruling class completely detached from normal human life. everyone’s medicated, scrolling, shopping, and throwing ice at bathtubs apparently Seems like the swap sucks

To be clear, I don’t consider anything else than BTC to be Bitcoin. It’s the longest chain. I just have low confidence in its trajectory being compatible with separating money from state. It feels and looks broadly captured to me. I would love to be proven wrong. The POW chain coin will be a fork and should make a new brand/name/ticker based on its own merits and ideas. The ideas are imo very sound and I think it’s an important manifestation of decentralization, that ideals are defended and if necessary forked off for. I will follow it with interest.

trezor's code must be pretty solid if the best attack anyone could find was the shipping label
We have some difficult news to share. Unfortunately, one of our shipping providers has experienced a data breach that exposed sensitive order data. This affects new customers in the US, UK, Sweden, Colombia, Brazil, Italy, and Portugal who received an order within the 90 days prior to August 8th, 2026. The data exposed: - Full names - Shipping addresses - Phone numbers - Email addresses The incident affects 11,742 customers with full exposure (name, email, phone number, shipping address) and 1,947 customers with partial exposure (name, city, email). The breach is limited due to Trezor’s strict 90-day data storage policy (we were also able to negotiate the same terms with fulfillment partners, who follow the same policy). All affected customers have been contacted separately by email. Our systems and devices remain secure, but affected customers could experience an increase in phishing attempts. NEVER enter your wallet backup on a website or share it with anyone, and only check for updates on official Trezor channels. We are deeply sorry to the community and those affected. We are investigating this situation and will post updates on our blog: trezor.io/blog/news/recent-c…
