🚨 The Tesla Semi math gets interesting when you stop looking at sticker price and start looking at cost per mile.
@CernBasher runs a simple example:
Diesel at $7/gal, 7 mpg → about $1.00/mile
Tesla Semi at $0.20/kWh, 1.7 kWh/mile → about $0.34/mile
That’s roughly $0.65/mile saved, or about $65,000 over 100,000 miles, before maintenance!
Across different fuel and electricity assumptions, the savings can still land around $49K–$95K per year.
That’s why the real Tesla Semi story may be ROI.
If the truck costs more upfront but pays that premium back in 1–2 years, fleet buyers may care less about purchase price and more about lifetime economics.
And if Tesla can also offer ~500 miles of range at a lower price than rival electric Class 8 trucks, the competitive gap gets even more interesting.

Tesla is sending this notification to people in Austin announcing that its Cybercab robotaxi fleet has doubled.
This aligns with Texas registration data from this past week, which showed Tesla's total number of registered Cybercabs jump from 58 on Monday to 125 on Friday, a 115% increase.
I got this notification on the robotaxi app. They are saying the Cybercab fleet has doubled. Glad that they are advertising this

Beschrieben wird ein vollständig versenkbarer aktiver Heckflügel mit:
✅ bis zu 700 kg Abtrieb
✅ vollständigem Ausfahren in unter 3s
✅ Winkeländerung in unter 0,25s
✅ automatischer Anpassung an Fahrsituation und Strecke
✅ DRS-Modus zur Reduzierung des Luftwiderstands (Formel 1 Technik)
Im Prinzip also:
Maximaler Abtrieb, wenn du ihn brauchst. Minimaler Luftwiderstand, wenn du ihn nicht brauchst.
Der 01.10. dürfte verdammt interessant werden.

What it actually describes:
1. Two-piece wing (main element + leading-edge slat 3–15 mm ahead)
2. Hidden flush in the deck lid in road mode
3. Four-bar linkage (also rails / lead screws)
4. Full deploy < 3 seconds
5. Angle change < 0.25 seconds
6. High-downforce mode: up to 700 kg (~1,540 lb) above 100 mph
7. DRS mode: 0 kg downforce, ~250 drag counts removed
8. Track mode: GPS sees a circuit, wing strategy changes automatically
9. Crash mode: ADAS predicts a rear hit → wing starts folding before impact. Mechanical latches dump it if the software is too late.
The drawings are a low 2+2 fastback with a huge diffuser.
Not confirmed for production. Timing is not an accident.

This is something new, at least at this SCALE, at Giga Texas … hundreds of vehicles, Model Y’s, @cybertruck & Cybercabs being move from the W outbound lot to the E parking garage, filing up inside and on the roof!
I even capture a long trail of vehicles in a conga line driving over and into the garage & then emerging on the roof.
I know they have stored vehicles to some degree here before, but not at these numbers.
What do YOU think is going on?

GOOD NEWS ⚙️ During the launch event, Tesla Semi program lead Dan Priestley and Tesla engineering executive Lars Moravy said that Tesla has extensively redesigned the Semi’s drivetrain for volume production 🔥
The original Plaid-derived motor used a carbon-fiber-sleeved rotor, but Tesla replaced it with a steel-caged design intended to be cheaper, lighter, more efficient and more reliable. A stator shared with Cybertruck also allows Tesla to reuse an existing design and production line.
Altogether, the redesigned drive axle is approximately 80 kg lighter.
Tesla also replaced hydraulic steering with a fully redundant electric steer-by-wire system based on Cybertruck technology. Tesla says it eliminates hydraulic losses and leaks, makes the truck autonomous-ready and delivers exceptionally fast, precise steering.
Combined with precise throttle control and greater wheel cut, it gives the Semi a turning radius reportedly close to a Model Y—making it easier to maneuver in cities and loading docks.
