Day 51 of posting something suppressed until Georgia removes state law tying suppressor ownership to the NFA process. 🇺🇸
51 Day Recap:
Federally, the court blocked enforcement of the challenged NFA registration requirements for the plaintiffs & covered members/customers in Silencer Shop Foundation v. ATF. DOJ has now confirmed it will not appeal that ruling.
The next push is for DOJ/ATF to apply that relief nationwide through rulemaking & we’re expecting additional ATF guidance soon.
In Georgia O.C.G.A. §§ 16-11-122 & 16-11-124 still leave suppressor possession tied to the federal NFA-registration framework, which is why Georgia continues to be treated differently from states where covered buyers can proceed without the Form 4 process.
We need clear guidance for Georgia gun owners now, followed by a permanent legislative fix so lawful suppressor ownership in Georgia is no longer dependent on the federal NFA process.
