I don’t see anything wrong with Nicki’s interview. She was articulate, poised, and showed genuine adoration for her fans. It was refreshing to see a woman in rap present herself with confidence and intelligence on TV. I personally don’t care that she chose to be Republican. Why should she feel obligated to be a Democrat when Democrats themselves gave her their behinds to kiss? If political voices from your own state are making derogatory comments about you, why would you feel loyalty to them? Instead of “let’s educate her,” I’ve mostly seen people belittle her. That’s common sense to me. As Gen Z, my perspective on loyalty is also different. A lot of us feel lied to about the standard of life we were told we’d have if we did everything “right,” while things our parents could afford feel increasingly out of reach. Y’all need to learn how to chew the meat and spit out the fat. You can gain wisdom from people you don’t agree with without adopting everything they believe. Take what’s useful and leave the rest. And please stop looking to celebrities to tell you who to vote for. Do your own research which she herself said. If celebrities can publicly say “vote blue,” she can share her own views and give the same disclaimer to research for yourself. All these temper tantrums over somebody having a different opinion are exhausting. We have a two party system for a reason. If you live in an echo chamber, how can you ever grow?
